A few days ago my fellow Medium friend Yana Bostongirl reached out to me:

Guess who is on the MWC reentry best list?

First I thought it was Yana herself and so I congratulated her.

Then I found out Yana meant my story.

I’m one of them but…I can’t celebrate my small win.

I couldn’t participate due to my Mother’s Block. My baby was teething and screaming. Due to my mommy duties, I couldn’t finish my article until midnight German time.

Still, I gave it the #Mwc Reentry tag.

But, hey, good for you! I’m just a friendly writer friend, no competitor in the Medium Writers Challenge in regard to this tag.

Here’s my trending story for you — Grab your popcorn🍿:

Your Takeaways

There are so-called ‘tag pages’ for every tag of the Medium Writers Challege:

On the tag page, you can see the pool of entries. You can filter ‘trending’ or ‘best’ and see who the top writers are. Moreover, you can check whether your story is on the shortlist.

Please keep in mind: Ev William and his team will read every entry and select their favorite ones.

‘Member engagement’ (=claps, visits, comments, reading time) is always crucial on this platform but in the end, the judging panel will choose their favorite pieces of content.

  • It’s all about creativity and originality.
  • If your story stands out from the crowd you have an advantage over your competitors.
  • If your story is memorable, that’s really good.

Don’t forget, ‘the best surfer out there is the one having the most fun.’ (Phil Edwards)

Wishing you a late summer of high tides 🌊and good vibes🏄‍♀️!

I‘d love to hear about your thoughts in the comments!
