I’m Not A Fake Expert. I’m A Real One. What About You?
I worked with Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) from “Sex and the City” and am a “Super Connector”.
“When you are hearing advice, does the advice giver know anything about what they are talking about?”
Of course, you can be an expert in your own experience, but what Tony is looking for are people with first-hand experience and expertise.
To sum it up in my own words:
Either you verify your expertise moving forward and raise your game, or your words will die hard here.
Real experts that provide real value will win. False experts will lose.
I’m a featured Top Writer in #Writing (and multiple other categories):
and #Social Media:
But am I a real and trustworthy expert?
Why am I showing you my LinkedIn profile today?
Yesterday, I showed you my newly launched Substack newsletter (after one year of abundance…) which is a great way to connect with my written words as well as my words on video.
On Substack, I’ll show another facet of myself and want to connect more closely with my “true fans” and all people who’d like to learn from and with me.
So my newsletter is all about you. Your desires, dreams, your wishes, and needs, and I will listen carefully to make it a place where you love to come often.
What about my LinkedIn profile now?
Well, this is the connection between my part-time writing on Medium and my professional life as a Brand Manager so that you know I’m a real expert- not a false one! So LinkedIn is (at the moment) all about me.
The purpose of this short article is to show you my credentials as proof that I’m a real professional — not a false expert (I’ll tell you later WHY that’s so important on Medium):
As you can see, when I was 24 years old, I started my career at Edelman in Frankfurt (the “little big Apple”).
It’s an award-winning, global communications firm with around 6,000 in more than 60 offices around the world. This year the international agency Edelman celebrates its 70th birthday.
It was founded in 1952 by Dan Edelman in Chicago. Dan is a legend.
I worked with Cynthia Nixon from “Sex and the City”
I spent 5 years and 6 months working for Edelman, primarily in the Healthcare department.
I climbed the career ladder from a “TalentED” (program for talented people around the globe) to an Account Manager.
I built my own team based on being a “Super Connector”. I loved to connect brands, companies, and individuals to the media and build strong relationships.
I was passionate about brand building, especially in regard to “personal branding” — make yourself a recognizable and trusted brand.
One of the highlights of my career at Edelman was that with the team I launched an international awareness campaign about rosacea.
Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) from “Sex and the City” was our testimonial and we worked closely with her.
I became a manager and won the “Communicator Award New York”
I don’t want to bore you, so this is gonna be short and sweet:
It’s the usual way as a consultant that one day you’re working for one specific company.
So in 2017, I started working for a big international company.
I was lucky that all the pharmaceutical companies I’ve been working for — Almirall, Mylan, and Viatris — have a broad portfolio.
So I’ve been working for hundreds of brands, people, and products throughout my career as a manager on the industry side.
My unfair advantage: education and real-life experience
You might know the book “The Unfair Advantage” by Ash Ali.
My hard work and grit aren’t enough. Education is important!
My unfair advantage is that I’m a trained journalist. I studied “journalism and communications” in Cologne, and worked with multiple German top-tier media.
Since I wanted to specialize in marketing, I did my Master’s Degree on the weekends and in my leisure time while working full-time at Edelman.
Education combined with my hands-on experience as a consultant and manager = an unfair advantage that definitely shaped my journey and make me to a trustworthy source in all things related to writing, marketing, brand building, and networking.
Fun facts about my writing on Medium
I’ve never ever published a story with Top Publication “Better Marketing” although I’m an expert.
I’ve never ever showcased my healthcare expertise here although I’ve been working for over a decade in the healthcare industry
I could share a lot of true stories about the industry and crazy things that happened to me BUT I stick to the non-disclosure clause. However, my suggestions, opinions, and questions are formed by the things that happened to me.
I love to connect the dots by using my knowledge and experience as a journalist, manager, marketer, and thought leader and using it when writing on Medium. That’s where my “expertise” for meta stories comes from!
3 Top Tips to show that you’re an expert in the topic you’re writing about:
✔️Make sure to show your expertise in your “About” and “Bio”.
✔️Create a Linktree (micro website) and showcase your portfolio. Maybe you’re an indie author, then link to your books.
✔️Write an “About Me story” in which you share your background in the topic you’re writing about and what makes you an expert.
In Germany, LinkedIn isn’t as big as in America, but it’s getting more and more powerful.
Although I haven’t linked my writing activities on Medium or shared my solopreneurial journey on LinkedIn (yet), I’d love to invite you to connect with me as Nicole Dake or Niharikaa Kaur Sodhi did lately.
If you’re reading my work on Medium, keep my professional background in mind.
Especially, if you’re reading my meta stories about Medium and the creator economy.
I started my (corporate) career when I was 20 years old. So I have 15 years of experience.
I studied journalism and marketing.
I climbed the career ladder from a Marketing consultant to a manager.
I worked with international brands, celebrities, and companies.
I educate myself (on the side) by listening to marketing podcasts, participating in webinars, reading top-tier magazines, and listening to at least one self-growth/business book per month.
I’m a “Super Connector”, who loves to connect with others and see others thrive.
Most importantly, I love writing online (on Medium) because writing is my passion and as a manager, I’m more of a supervisor and have agencies that write for me.
Based on my professional background, I share my advice on #Social Media, #Marketing, #Writing, #Entrepreneurship, and Motivation.
Many thanks for making my words part of your day!
