I’ll Never Look at Medium’s Stats Again

One of the most frequent activities of most users on Medium is reading a new story.
Did you not know that? Really
It’s the first thing we do, we go in and go directly to read the most interesting story suggested by the Medium home page.
Completely false.
You know that the truth is another.
You know what I’m talking about.
We really have to accept that all or maybe 98% of active users on Medium, their first search is to look at…
Your stories stats
We cannot avoid wanting to open our Medium account to go directly to that place.
Moreover, possibly before you were very connected to your social networks, (e.g., Facebook) and quickly in the morning hours, you would grab your mobile phone to enter to see what is happening in Facebookland.
“But for now, your priorities are different.”
“You have already discovered your purpose in life. You no longer want to be a consumer of content, now you want to be the star of the show.” (Possibly you were in that activity on the other social networks but now there is a new place in your life.)
It’s called …
Medium.com
Since you discovered your true calling in life, you can no longer deny yourself the desire to enter there and start creating content for the world.
Now you know your true purpose in life…be a writer.
But when you discover the control panel and discover that place where it reveals the reality of your account, the result of your stories. Since that day, you can no longer resist the temptation to enter.
It’s like you haven’t eaten all day, and that place is the only one that has food available. (Those who break the front door of the restaurant, to enter and devour all the food that is served on the table exclusively for you.)
But the story does not end there…
The most incredible thing is not that you enter once in the morning. (Or once when you wake up, it may be at noon.)
The shocking thing is that you are already starting to see a new pattern of entering the statistics of your Medium account … one… two… three … five … times a day. (Maybe it’s more… maybe 10 times or more.)
The thing is, you start obsessing over your results that day.
But not everything is that …
There is another place that you cannot avoid entering.
Your Partner Program earnings
This is the place called …
“The sacred place of your medium account.”
(I made up that name now, but it’s just to add more drama to the story.)
Many of us (including me), in the first days of having entered Medium as a new user. And having finished writing the first story, the next day we discovered that on this page, we could see the amount of income generated by the readings of our story … and possibly around .0000002 cents. (Just kidding …) But close to that!
And then we came to think that that number could change during the day … and it became a constant entering and leaving that page, expecting to see a different amount.
And it wasn’t until several days later… (Speaking of my case.) “I don’t think it’s yours. Yeah sure.”
What did we finally learn, that statistic changed once a day. Which is really the result of the day before and nothing else. You have to wait 24 hours to see if I increase the amount of.
If you didn’t know? Now you know it!
Another thing, many struggled with their minds and wondered. What happens that the story I just published? And it’s been almost 7 hours now and it has 200 views and 157 reads and when I enter here, I don’t see more than $ 0.00 under the upcoming earnings list.
Boom!!!
Another rookie mistake… (that just happened to me. I don’t think any of you.)
AND
(A few years later…)
You realized that this result is actually updated when your newly published story is 24 hours old.
So you see the result of those 20,000 views and 15,750 reads, with a grand total of … at least, much more than the ($ 0.02 cents) that is the result of many in this place.
Finally
