True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.

Rick Warren

I have been working in the restaurant business for the last ten years of my life. I have met different kinds of people. Some of them admirable people, and others with their ego as big as the whole restaurant I used to work.

Some people don’t accept different points of view. Some of them are waiting to put their opinions upfront when you are having a regular conversation.

I used to realize when you are talking with someone, and without even listening, they wanted to put their thoughts and opinions first and not listen to different point views.

On one occasion, I had a conversation with a person who told me this — I prefer to be dead before asking for help — I was in shock after listening to that, I realized that it doesn’t make sense to argue with someone who keeps those thoughts in mind. Hopefully, time will teach him.

Being a humble person required to be enough wise to understand that you can learn everywhere and every time. And overcome the enemy you have inside — your ego.

Being humble is a brilliant habit. It is like a muscle that you develop in your everyday life. And if you dominate, it can be a superpower that you can use in your daily life. It will change your life for the better if you starter to use humility right now.

Let’s see how it can change your life if you are open and ready to get all the benefits to be humble.

You get better as a team worker

Studies show that one main benefit of humility is that it appears to strengthen social bonds, especially in important relationships that may experience conflict.

Everything is connected. When you are a humble person, you stared to open yourself and be vulnerable. Hence you start to have empathy for others. As a result, you are ready to collaborate with everyone.

Your behavior starts to affect people around you, and it’s contagious. People around you begin to have more empathy and the idea to help each other come true.

Show humility in your work or at home, take humility as a symbol in your shirt, and you will see how people will love working with you and be around you.

Humility brings synergy, and synergy brings results. Be humble wherever you are.

You will have the power to question everything

As a humble person, you don’t have the necessity to have doubts about nothing. Everyone knows that you are ready to learn; you destroy those boundaries that are used to stop you, so they are prepared for your questions.

This is a superpower, you know why?

Nobody knows everything, neither. The difference is if you are aware of it. And it becomes a lethal gun.

You are putting your bar higher

Be humble is aligned and vital to growth as you are ready to absorb all the information around your environment. You will learn and grow faster than anyone.

As you are learning, you will start to want more and put the bar higher. There is a quote that resonates with me and carries in my everyday life from Mahatma Gandhi. “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Being humble makes everything easier in life.

Fear for change disappear

As a result of being humble, you will be ready to adapt to new experiences in life. The learning habit never stops. The boundaries in your head will disappear faster.

And you will not have problems with changes in life. People refuse to change. By keeping humility, you will be ready to adapt faster in any situation.

Recognize your faults

When you are humble, you develop your awareness inside. You start to realize what you are doing right and wrong if you are in everyday life. And recognize your flaws easily.

When you discover a flaw, you have two options:

  • Be aware of the flaw and work to fix them.
  • Embrace the flaw and decide it’s something you are going to live with.

You change your narrative about success

There is nothing more satisfactory to meet someone who achieves their goals and keeps humility inside. This is a big one, Sometimes we believe that money can buy everything, and sadly when you started to get the money, you realize that it was not whatever you were expecting.

I know some people that have a successful economic life and are the most unhappy person that I have ever meet.

Being humble helps you to recognize than in life, there are so many areas, and the freedom that will give you money is a tiny percentage of areas in life. Sadly people realize this late.

You don’t need to do that. You can work hard to get money but keeping yourself humble and aware of fulfilling the most significant percentage of the other areas in your life.

Do not hesitate about being humble

Do not get confused; humility does not mean you are:

  • Lacking confidence
  • Being weak
  • Being selfish

Make sure you do not tag yourself with these. You are the opposite. You are confident because you embrace vulnerability, and being vulnerable means being open to learning. Your learning mode will be turned on forever.

Weak person, If someone calls you weak, it means that person is weak, weak because he can not recognize his flaws, and you can. You want to be a better person every day in the life.

Being selfish means you have priorities. It can be misunderstood by people. Nobody knows the truth, just you. When you know what you want, the rest does not matter.

I have a daily routine of journaling every day; I put my thoughts there, and at night how I did good or bad during the day. Just this act makes me realize a lot of things and organize my thoughts to be humble each moment in life. Always check yourself to get the right balance.

Humility connects everything positive

Humility has a win-win result. No one can say being humble has bad sides. If you keep, you are developing this huge superpower that will lead you to be a better person in your everyday life.

Being humble means:

  • You are vulnerable, and you embrace it.
  • You are a life learner. You will learn as if you will live forever.
  • You will develop empathy with others.
  • You will be a better listener.
  • You will have more friends. People want to be heard.
  • You will be a role model for others.
  • You will grow faster as you keep learning.

I will borrow Ernest Hemingway's quote.

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
