If You Are Upset With Only 5 Reads For Your Story — Don’t Fret. That Is Just A Start.

Oh, it happens. How we deal with it matters more than the statistic.

It is hard to be euphoric with only 5 reads for our stories, especially when we spent a couple of hours writing one.

Do not get disappointed for too long. We have a lot of work to do!

There are many ways we can further polish our work for better receptivity.

We can start with rewriting.

Revisit. Re-read. Rewrite.

Leave the story out there for a few days. Let us focus on writing other stories first. We may have a line-up of stories to write in our plan, and therefore, I recommend finishing those first.

And then, find time over the weekend to revisit our older stories.

Re-read them. When we do, we can find blind spots that we never detected when we wrote them.

Sometimes, all it takes is a fresh perspective to inject depth into our stories.

Add that into our story rewrite.

Ask Ourselves If The Publication Is The Right One.

We can repurpose our stories for new publications after version updates.

Do not jump to conclusions. Our stories are good (can be better), and they may do way better than 5 reads when released in another publication stronger in the genre we write.

Experimentation is the key.

Think Rubber-Band. Scale Our Stories Up And Down.

Take 6-minute, 7-minute stories, and write a concise summarised version for distribution to other publications.

Take 3-minute, 4-minute stories, and blow them up by adding elaborations and perspectives.

Keep testing.

Maybe, we write better in shorter forms for the genres of our choice. Or, we could be better at gloriously articulating our line of thought.

We will not know what we are better at until we try.

Do Not Fret. There Are Ways To Keep Improving.

Keep trying.

We have to believe we write good stories when no one does.

5 readers are a good starting point. It takes time to grow our reader base.
