If Time And Patience Are People

“Tell me, what is the end of numbers?”

Does it go linear, circular, or a “Jeremy Bearimy” way?

Time

You made us laugh, tear, shout and surrender.

You made us chase, stop, and contain you,

but it has been futile every single time.

Time

When we are young, we want to grow up quickly,

and when we are old, we wish to age slowly.

Sometimes,

You make us look like a fool, a bit like how Love can make us too.

When things are bad, we want Time to move faster.

When times are good, we wish Time to tick slower.

We want to bask in the goodness of the experience a bit longer.

Time

You are indeed the most impartial of them all. You are the true Justice.

You affect all, regardless of race, status, or gender.

Time is limited when we use our five senses, but when we really look deeper, we realize Time is limitless.

After all, one asked, “Tell me, what is the end of numbers?”

“Infinity”, says the other.

Allow Time to shape us, teach us, empower us to be the truest of self. Let the inner strength emerge from the test of Time.

All we may need to ride with Time is Patience — its friend.

Patience isn't the same as Tolerance.

In the West, I see many with tattoos of Chinese characters choosing 忍 ren, which translates to tolerance.

But I chose Patience, 耐 nai. It contains the essence of longevity and endurance.

With Patience, comes Tolerance.

Author’s Notes: I have always wondered about the concept of time and how it affects our lives. Are we the same as 5, 10, 15 years ago? What and where would we be, in 5 years' time? Will we remember what 2020 is like when the pandemic ends?

In Chinese culture, we can combine both the characters and get 忍耐. It has the meaning of control, endure hardship, without much emotional expression. 忍 Ren involves the heart, while 耐 nai involves time.
