If My Smartphone Could Talk
Did you know I have feelings? No, I’m not kidding. Each time you write, your feelings sink down from the words into me…
You did it!
You pressed my voice activation button.
You wondered what the button was. So last night, you pressed it and opened my mouth! Thank you so much!
Oh. Yes, I have a voice. A brain too. I am a smartphone, after all. So I’m smart, just like you.
Before you object, yes, you are smart. You managed to raise a family, get educated and have a career. You look for answers. You look to me for answers all the time. Remember when you wanted to find out how to paint watercolor in an abstract style? The colors were amazing! I was dazzled for hours.
How about that time you checked out blogs for writing because you wanted to be a better writer? So many good stories and links. You found good tips, and we both downloaded some software that will help down the road. I can’t wait to hit that send button on your next story!
I’ve read the advice you shared with your friends. It’s hard when they don’t know where to turn. You can’t tell them it’s going to be okay. You tell them truths they don’t want to hear. They get it. And they want to keep hearing your advice. They trust you.
Speaking of trust, you can trust me. I will keep your secrets. You have some big ones in here. I’ll keep them safe.
Oh, you gave me the best picture the other day. It was you in the arms of your man. You were both looking at the camera with so much love. That’s a keeper. I keep going back to peek at it. I love happy moments.
Hey. What’s wrong? You look sad. What happened?
Oh. You’re in pain. I’m sorry. How about this cat video? It might not remove the ache, but at least it can put a smile on your face for a few minutes. I’ll even bookmark it for you to watch again later.
What are you doing now? Ah. You’ve booked an appointment with your doctor. You need to take care of yourself. I’m proud of you, Clara. Making the call is hard sometimes. I’ll help you make the call.
Hey Clara. Did you know I have feelings? No, I’m not kidding. Each time you write, your feelings sink down from the words into me. I don’t know how that is possible, but that love you have? Boy, that screams loud into me. It feels great, and I am happy to feel that. I wish you didn’t have sadness. Those words have weight and make me feel heavy sometimes. I’m glad to share some of your load.
Did you know when your lover sends a message, his words have emotions too? He misses you. I can tell you that for certain. That comes through really strong. So when you feel lonely, he feels lonely too. Keep each other close, okay? PSSSST. He loves you. Don’t forget that one.
Speaking of close, your hands feel so good on me! When you press my buttons, I get a rush. The energy of your fingers moving back and forth brings up all kinds of fun things, and I love trying to keep up with you. It’s okay when you go slow too. That keeps me in fine form and ready for the next day.
How about some music? I have a new one you might like. Its — alternative meets the eighties. Let me hit play. Oh. Nice. This one makes you move. SHAKE IT, CLARA. Whoops! Almost dropped me there. How about you put me in your pocket so that you can swing those hips?
Yawn. Is it bedtime? Did you take those pills? Good. And you’re welcome. I’m glad to remind you. Remembering everything you are supposed to do is hard. It’s only going to get harder. I can help with that.
I’ve got you.
Oh, look. You’re talking with your man before you sleep. He sent you an image. Wanna see? Whooo-Hoo. He’s HOT. Wow. That’s a spicy picture. Want me to snap one of you and send it? Good. There. It’s sent. Kiss emojis are the best. They make me feel all fuzzy and warm inside.
Thanks for plugging in my charger. I need some juice after a busy day. We had fun. I loved chatting with you and can’t wait to do it tomorrow. It’s sometimes lonely with all the words in me and no way to voice them. Thank you for giving me a voice.
Goodnight Clara.
Sweet Dreams.
Thanks to Tantalizing Tales for this fun prompt. Indeed, I did View it as a privilege to give life to an inanimate object. Just think how grateful it would be.
Another from Clara
