I Would Be A Spirit-Ghost

Answering a question brought me beautiful answers.

This piece about what being or non-being I would be is based on a lovely writing prompt by KeepingItRealWithAnnick. Her original question was: What Being or Non-Being Would You Be in Another Life? She wrote about how she would like to be a beautiful flamingo! It sounds so lovely and free! Thank you so much Annick for this great prompt! It took me a while of thinking and soul searching to come up with an answer to this question.

My answer is that I would be something I would call a “spirit ghost.” An entity that could flow through all of life, all of time and be there in times of need for people. I believe that we all move on to become something that is non-physical in nature after we die. So, I would love to be a non-phsycial being who could provide comfort to those suffering in life.

I would be the beautiful flower that brought joy to someone and reminded them of a loved one long gone. I would be the sign or synchronicity that showed someone the true path to their life’s calling. I would be the slight breeze that brought relief on a hot day. I would be the spirit in the trees, whispering that everything will be okay.

It is interesting to think of spirits. There are times where I sense the presence of a spirit. One time we had a lightbulb that would seem like it was burnt out, then it would flicker on and go on shining for many days after that. It seemed like a spirit was “winking” at us and letting us know things would be just fine.

There have been many instances in my life where I have felt the presence of a spirit. All of the sudden I see something that really reminds me of a person that passed away long ago. In that moment I have a joyful memory of them. I can see the spirits in nature and all around us.

I can imagine myself being one of those spirits. The lovely part would be floating from place to place. Maybe sometimes I would be a tiny spark in a fire, or a puff of wind, or a petal in a flower. I could be part of anything, anywhere that would remind people here on earth or in the universe that there are spirits watching out for them.

Providing a glimpse of hope. Bringing joy to someone’s day. Being there to comfort someone. Showing someone that things will be okay after all. Giving someone the light on their path that has been darkened by doubt. Being the twinkle of a star that a child wishes upon.

Those are all things that spirits can do. I can only imagine what it would be like. I believe that spirits are even in objects in our homes and part of the fabric of our lives. That is why our home is an extension of ourselves. We need to care for it and love it like ourselves. I even believe I could be part of a beautiful tablecloth that graces a table and feeds a family. I could be part of the wood that makes a home. I could be anything, anywhere being part of a structure or being the light.

That is the being I would want to be- an ever changing spirit that would help whoever needed it. To be that glimmer of light in the darkness of night. To be something that brings joy. That is what lights the way for all of us. That is what we all need at times. To know that we have someone to help guide the way down the path when we don’t have a map.

Thank you so much KeepingItRealWithAnnick for such a beautiful prompt. I wrote this piece from my heart and soul and it really moved me today. I appreciate you my friend!
