I Was Cloned Again on Medium!
Medium Woes: A Frustrated Perspective on Ongoing Spam and Scam Issues on This Platform

Just a few days ago, someone maliciously cloned my account, and I poured my heart and thoughts into sharing the ordeal. Today, new readers, unaware of my previous experience, have reached out privately, expressing concern that what I’m sharing doesn’t add up. I felt awful and wasted my time.
They suggested the possibility of my account being hacked and urged me to get it checked. It’s disheartening to think that skepticism arises, but I appreciate the care and concern of those looking out for my online well-being.
The latest offender is detailed in this link, but I want to emphasize that it’s not from me. I want to make it crystal clear that I have no need for a second account; one is more than sufficient on this platform. Please exercise caution and be aware that the linked offer is not associated with me.

Dear Medium Staff,
I addressed my relevant concern to you just three days ago, and I’m genuinely puzzled as to why I’m still encountering these issues. Can’t you simply stop new users from using my identical name and profile image?
Addressing this doesn’t require extensive effort from tech experts; a simple script from someone on Fiverr could handle it for a reasonable cost. I believe Medium can afford this measure.
Please remove this offender ASAP before it causes unnecessary drama to our writers and readers.
The continuous influx of spammers and scammers is not only frustrating but also impacting my reputation as a writer and curator on this platform. I trust that you understand the urgency of resolving this matter and appreciate your prompt attention to it.
Once again, my story and editors’ bulletin have been unfairly censored by your algorithm, limiting its visibility to only those I tagged and the ones we shared links with. This hampers the reach and engagement with my broader readership.
I hope for a prompt resolution to these ongoing issues before I say farewell to your platform.
Details for New Readers
For those who missed my previous story, I encourage you to check it out as I poured my thoughts and feelings into it in detail. I find myself lacking the energy and mood to reiterate those sentiments.
ILLUMINATION editors have also posted a crucial bulletin, alerting the community about this issue. We are doing our best from our end, and now it’s Medium’s turn to swiftly eliminate these spammers and discourage the creation of accounts with identical names and photos.
Here’s the key message from our chief editor Dr Mehmet Yildiz
“The escalating proliferation of counterfeit accounts on Medium transcends mere inconvenience, posing a formidable threat to our community’s trust, integrity, and safety. These deceptive entities disrupt the essence of authentic engagement, inundating our feeds with dubious content and eroding the credibility of genuine creators.
Encountering these accounts not only jeopardizes users’ exposure to scams and misinformation but also results in a loss of valuable time and a dent in trust. For Medium itself, this poses a significant risk to its authenticity, potentially alienating creators and readers.
A proactive stance by Medium is imperative. Implementing tighter verification processes during account creation, strengthening innovative reporting tools, and enhancing algorithms are pivotal steps to curb the surge of harmful accounts. Equally crucial is education, empowering users with the knowledge to identify and report counterfeit accounts to safeguard the integrity of Medium.
Recognizing the telltale signs of these fake personas — such as a lack of followers, non-member status, and unconventional language usage — can bolster our collective vigilance. Safeguarding Medium’s integrity is a shared responsibility that demands collaborative efforts between the platform and its users.”
