I’m Proud to Admit it — I Voted for Donald Trump

And I’ll do it again if I have to

I’m just going to come right out and say it.

It seems the only political voices on Medium are from the left, far left, even lefter, and as far away from the right as you can get.

So Mr. Liberal, Mrs. Liberal, and all you other liberals out there — I’ve got a confession to make.

I’m a conservative.

What did he just say? That’s right. I said it. Somebody has to, so I guess it might as well be me. I’m not ashamed of it.

Me conservative, me has brain

Maybe you think I’m stupid for admitting it, or stupid for being a conservative. That’s ok with me. You have every right to think that. This is America. The land of the free, home of the brave.

Maybe you think I’m brave for saying it. I’m not. If I am, I would have written this a while ago. It’s been on my heart for two or three weeks. But I held off because I am a coward.

It’s not easy feeling like you’re the only conservative voice on Medium. But I know that’s not the case. I know there are thousands and thousands of people just like me, conservative but afraid to say it.

It’s not an easy thing to be conservative these days. We get called idiots, rednecks, or MAGAts, even if we don’t like Donald Trump. Even if we think he’s despicable. We get called racists, homophobes, and terrorists. We get called worse.

But the typical conservative is none of those things. We’re normal people … just like you. We just happen to have different views and opinions than yours. But even though we disagree with you, that doesn’t make us stupid. Or closed minded. Or hateful.

We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about our world views. And it didn’t come by being led around like sheep. We don’t form our opinions from media. If we did we’d be screwed.

If you believe what you hear or read in media, we’re nearly extinct.

Only we’re not. This might send a chill up and down your spine. Prepare yourself. There are lots of us. The media wants you to think we’re dead or at least dying… but we’re not. The media is 99.99% liberal, so what else are they going to sell you?

It’s fake news!

So I’m unapologetically writing this on behalf of the many closet conservatives on Medium — or at least trying to. Whether or not they’re brave enough to admit it, they’re here.

Don’t believe me?

Take a trip with me down memory lane. Let’s look at the last presidential election. I’ve got the numbas on my side. That may be the only thing on my side right now.

Go back with me, all the way back to the year 2019. The month was November. It seems like it was a decade ago. The world was a simpler place, mostly because we weren’t dealing with masks, lockdowns, vaccines, or viruses sweeping the planet.

We also weren’t used to a president getting over 80 million votes. But that’s exactly what President Biden achieved. According to the Council on Foreign Relations, “Biden won 81,283,098 votes, or 51.3 percent of the votes cast.”

But wait a minute. 51.3% out of 100… carry the one…

There was another significant number in 2019. Oh yes. Former President Donald J. Trump received over 70 million votes of his own — 74,222,958 votes, or 46.8 percent of the votes, to be exact.

And guess what — 74 million votes was a new record for a presidential candidate. That is, until you stack it up against Joe Biden’s 81 million.

Do the math. Does that sound like conservatives are dead to you?

Now let me also be the first to say this — voting in 2020 felt like voting between Dumb and Dumber. You decide for yourself which is which.

And so a lot of us were faced with a dilemma, waste our vote — or vote for Trump. Believe me, it was very tempting to throw away our vote. But we had to vote our hearts. And that didn’t align with the Biden Regime.

There wasn’t a great choice for us lowly conservatives.

I think that’s something you may have missed. A lot of us were not voting for Trump. We were voting against the Socialist Communist Party led by President Biden. Because we love America. And we knew what was coming.

And we don’t love the beat up, burned down version of America we’re living in these days. And we’re not stoopid, we know Trump is a big part of that.

We used to be proud of who we were. Our differences were part of what made ‘Merica so great. Not anymore

Americans don’t really talk politics these days.

We yell about it. And argue. And then we argue some more. Until we empty out everything inside of us. And then we dig down really deep, and find that one last zing to win the argument. Only we don’t.

So let me clear up a few things for you, just because we don’t share your values doesn’t mean we’re heartless. Just because we have vastly different opinions doesn’t mean we’re brainless.

Let me break it down for ya

  1. Conservatives are intelligent. At least some of us. Liberals are intelligent. At least some of you.
  2. Conservatives are normal people, not idiots. At least most of us.
  3. Conservatives are not terrorists, racists, or bigots. At least most of us.
  4. Conservatives are hard working, respectful, normal, moms and dads, brothers and sisters, friends and coworkers.

So next time you think all conservatives are idiots, think again.

And next time you leave your house, take a look around you. About half the people you see might just be conservative. When you go to the store. Half the people. When you go to the gym. Half the people. When you go to the coffee shop. Half the people.

All right. That’s it. I’ve said my piece. For better or worse, now you know who I am. Thanks for reading to the bitter end.

I welcome your feedback.
