I Started Working with a Holistic Doctor a Month and a Half Ago

Here's Where I am

I began developing digestive issues years ago, but it wasn't until this year that my symptoms worsened, and I decided to do something about it.

I went to my primary doctor, then a gastroenterologist.

I had an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, and at least five rounds of blood work, but those exams couldn't get to the root of the problem.

As the weeks passed and my frustration grew, I asked for help, and God answered my prayers.

At the time, I wasn't sure working with a holistic doctor would be the answer, but I was willing to try because Western medicine kept telling me I was fine when I felt the opposite.

The doctor I've been working with is a woman with a similar story.

She had severe health struggles, and hearing her about her journey gave me hope that I would also find a solution naturally, which I preferred.

Now almost two months later, I can say that she knows her stuff because about 80% of my symptoms have improved.

If you have it in your finances and budget to seek help from a holistic doctor, I highly recommend it.

Holistic doctors treat the root of the problem, not just the symptoms.

I used to feel bloated constantly, sometimes to the point it was painful, and now I occasionally feel this way.

I'm still on my journey to correct all these imbalances within my body, but getting this much relief in this time frame is a true blessing.

I was diagnosed with an imbalance of bacteria in my small intestine.

As we work to correct that imbalance, we're also uncovering other issues that developed in other areas of my body due to said imbalance.

My experience with her has opened my eyes to the reality that most traditional doctors don't know how to treat these kinds of problems.

Western medicine is designed to treat the symptoms, not to get to the root of the issue and fix it permanently.

If this were the case, our population wouldn't be so sick and constantly taking prescription medication.

That is one of my fears. Having to depend on some form of drug for the rest of my life to feel normal.

Holistic doctors use Nutrition and Whole Food supplements first.

All of this relief has been achieved using natural and real food supplements.

How I wish this were the norm for traditional doctors.

The first line of defense against any ailment should be through nutrition and supplementation.

Thanks to my doctor, I feel more empowered.

I've learned and keep learning how my body reacts to certain foods, what foods benefit my health, and which ones don't.

I feel in control and have the ability to make changes through my nutrition and supplementation to improve my health and naturally treat most ailments.

Let me say this so that people don't get it twisted.

Holistic doctors don't deny that Western medicine helps. They don't like that drugs are constantly prescribed to get rid of symptoms instead of doing a thorough analysis that tells them what's wrong in the first place.

My doctor will first treat any symptom naturally, but if she finds this method isn't enough, we will go to a traditional doctor for more help.

That's the beauty of holistic health. It considers and includes any form of medicine to help the individual get back to an optimal level of health.

This also makes me feel empowered because I have more options.

I can go to my holistic and traditional doctors for help, and they can both work to lead me in the right direction.

I'm very fortunate that at a young age, I've decided to take charge and invest in my health to avoid having a more severe issue happen in the future.

The one downside — It's not covered by insurance.

Unfortunately, insurance doesn't cover any of this.

I've had to pay out of my pocket for every appointment and supplement.

I'm not complaining about having to pay for a service being provided — that's what you're supposed to do.

I'm very grateful to be in the financial position to afford this care.

What frustrates me is that these services are unavailable to others because of this monetary barrier.

Insurance companies can't profit from natural supplements and nutrition coaching, so they exclude them.

So far, I've spent a little over $1,200.

This may sound like a lot, but it's worth it because of all the services and treatment I've been able to receive.

I'm working with a doctor that has over two decades of experience. I've pre-paid for an 18-week treatment program. Every appointment is already paid for.

If you budget yourself accordingly, this is around the same cost as groceries for one person per week, around $80 to $100, including most supplements you may need to purchase.

Have you looked at an insurance bill for going to the doctor's office just for a simple check-up?

That bill is upwards of $200, not including any additional exams the doctor may need to do, like blood work.

If you had to pay out of pocket, which many people do because of high copays, you'd easily spend around $500 for ONE appointment.

Investing in an excellent holistic doctor is worth it.

You may spend more upfront, but the long-term benefit is astronomical in two aspects.

Your health is improved, and because of that, you need fewer traditional doctor visits, which then saves you a lot of money.
