BIOGRAPHY FOR ILLUMINATION-CURATED

I Rewrote My Medium Bio

Because that’s the way my life works

Crossroads

As we move through life we are met with choices. If you move slowly, the choices are bountiful, and sometimes too many.

So you speed up a bit, travelling past successive crossroads at a pace where a decision isn’t an option. Then, you find you’re moving faster and faster, and the intersections slip by in a blur, leaving you to fly on without the knowledge that a choice even exists.

What on earth does this have to do with my biography, you ask?

I have seen my life at various speeds, and I have to say I’m enjoying this one the best. Being at home most of the day, either working at my computer on a story, learning to bake, or taking long walks with my dog are among the most satisfying times I’ve ever experienced.

Chasing the golden ring blinds us to the things we’re missing out on often. I’m delighted to have slowed my pace so that I can ponder and inform myself about my next choice. Life is simpler now, less complicated than it ever needed to be.

Seeing these choices with a clarity of vision is a gift to be nurtured. Many turns and forks in the road have brought me to this moment. Lately, the path seems more under my control, rather than it being foisted upon me. That feels good.

I guess it’s something like having children, watching them grow, and leave the nest; though I wouldn’t know firsthand. After knowing similar responsibility for many years in varied vocations, I feel like I’ve found the place I was finally meant to be.

And, as the great bluesman, Robert Johnson said,

Ooh, standin’ at the crossroad, tried to flag a ride Ooh-ee, I tried to flag a ride Didn’t nobody seem to know me, babe, everybody pass me by

That’s fine with me. I write to please myself first, but there’s certainly something to be said for touching the sensibility of others. people you’ve never met.

This is how I wish to journey through the rest of my life, with my best friend by my side. I’m most grateful for her, and I’m happy to have connected with some great people here; Liam Ireland Tree Langdon, CPA, CGA Britni Pepper Agnes Laurens Kristi Keller Myriam Ben Salem Dr. Mehmet Yildiz.

Below is the original biography I made for ILLUMINATION in case you’re interested in knowing the rest.

Choices become much easier when everything slows down, and it’s never too late for a rewrite if you feel you need one. Life’s too short not to enjoy the ride, so see the crossroads clearly, and choose your path well.

As always, thanks for taking the time.
