Writer Biography
Post-Middle-Aged, Middle-Class White Guy
Fascinating, huh? This is me, S.S.E.
I’m equal parts late bloomer and late Boomer. My friends call me Stu and I hope to be yours. Some thrill-seekers call me Stuey at their peril, but what’s in a name?
I grew up and still live in the Greater Toronto Area as we call it. Life as a Canadian is much like being an American, except for the noise. Sorry, eh.
I come armed with a degree in Motion Picture Studies, though I’ve never used it in anger, which is another way of saying I couldn’t get a job in the film industry. So, I started my own production company instead. That was a fun way to blow through several thousand dollars in very little time.
Off to the real world then.
I didn’t follow every other filmmaker’s dream and become a waiter, but I did my fair share of pizza flinging in my younger days.
Thirty years later, I sold my semi-successful small parcel delivery company. Sexy? No, but I kept a few people employed and paid some bills. The best part of that time was the relationships I helped build, some of whom I miss very much.
Discovering I still had the creative itch and, having no hope of being gainfully employed at my advanced age, I decided to just start writing. BTW, I don’t fish, but I thought the image was appropriate. This is me about five years ago.

Ok, maybe ten.
News bulletin!
I’m getting ready to publish my first book very soon. I have had the privilege over the past year to talk with and document the extraordinary life of an older gentleman in my greater community. He began as a merchant seaman at the age of fifteen during the height of WWII and then, well you’ll just have to wait and read to find out.
I mentioned anger earlier. Anger is something I seek to avoid, but like many of us in these times, it’s difficult to keep in check especially when people are so damn…
Oops. Sorry, eh.
Personal changes have brought me to this place where I feel at peace and I finally belong. Writing and reading in a place of acceptance is everything I could hope for, and I’m most grateful to publications like Illumination to provide me that outlet. Some important people I would like to thank specifically are; Dr. Mehmet Yildiz Liam Ireland Tree Langdon, CPA, CGA Kristi Keller Rasheed Hooda.
Inspirations all, and thank you for taking into the editors' fold.
I’m always hopeful to initiate a dialogue that will ultimately be for the benefit of all.
We Can All Be Better People.
As my French neighbours say(yes, it’s spelled correctly), “Vive la difference” or something like that. It’s difficult to tell sometimes when they have a mouthful of poutine. Anyway, we all see the world in our unique way. There’s no need to get in a huff about it.
I love to write when I feel I have something to say, something to share, rather than what I think others want to hear. I’ll just put it out there. Only you can decide if it’s worthy.
