Summary

Abstract

Jupiter Grant, a self-published author and blogger, has taken on the "Know Thyself, Heal Thyself" 30 Day Poetry Challenge, focusing on Day 10's prompt about self-imposed limits and restrictions. In a candid poem titled "I Really Ought to Set Me Free," Grant admits to being a chronic worrier and acknowledges the negative impact of fear on personal growth and the pursuit of dreams. The poem, accompanied by a photograph from Karina Vorozheeva, delves into the struggle of overcoming self-doubt and the paralyzing effect of the "great unknown." Grant expresses a desire to break free from these self-imposed chains to live the life they've envisioned. The article also extends gratitude to Diana C. and Tree Langdon for their inspiration and tags a multitude of other writers and poets, inviting them to join the challenge or consider it for the future.

I’ve always been a worrywart. I focus on the negative. But I accept I really ought to change approach so I can live

the kind of life of which I dreamed, for many years a fantasy. But fear of monsters always seems to come between my life and me.

There’s things out in the world that bite and make outside a scary place! But such has been my fear of fright that I’ve cut off my nose to spite my face.

Through limits and restrictions I’ve missed out on much, there’s no denying. To break this habit I must strive, but the great unknown is terrifying!

Throughout June, I‘m taking the Know Thyself, Heal Thyself 30 Day Poetry Challenge, with thanks to Diana C. Thanks also to Tree Langdon for inspiring me to take part.
