I Really Got Boosted This Time!
That was weird.

These were the stats and the sudden increase in views for my supposedly boosted story.
Then I got boosted for real. I'll share everything in a bit.
I wrote a story about boosted stories on Medium and whether or not Medium is biased, and I was actually praising this incredible platform. I assumed that this story had been boosted despite the fact that I received no email or notification.
Here’s the story, in case you haven’t read it yet and want to know what I am talking about:
I'm always like that; I assume something strange happened to me because I'm unlucky and used to it. I assumed it was a glitch, or that Medium had forgotten to send me the notification, or something. I am funny, right?
But it wasn't boosted; I just assumed it was an accident that it didn't show boosted.
I'm a weirdo when it comes to these things; it turns out that this can't happen, like, "Oh, we forgot to notify him that this story was boosted."
For some reason, I thought that was the case. lol.
Anyway, I received a lot of comments about how it was not boosted and why it suddenly started to generate views and reads. Then, I received a note from the CEO, Tony Stubblebine, in which he informed me that I had not been boosted.
His message gave me the assurance I needed. (Tony, I sincerely appreciate your help.)
It turned out that these were organic views, and it was Medium’s algorithm sharing my story with more people, and it got a lot of attention, and readers kept clicking on the story, so it kept going on and on.
Then something very weird happened. I was talking about boost and medium that day, and all of a sudden I received an email saying congratulations! Your story was boosted.
It could be a coincidence (most likely), or Medium's lords read this post and said, "Let's give this guy a boost." I think that it's a coincidence, lol, but either way, I am so grateful.
Unquestionably, when you read the email, you get the feeling that the next five to six days will be enjoyable on Medium.
Since humans are naturally curious, I was intrigued and wanted to know how it would go down, how many views I would receive, and most importantly, was it worth it?
We’ll answer that question together in a moment.
I checked my stats as soon as I got the email and took screenshots of them to keep track of the boost effect.

You're probably wondering which one, and the answer is "kill them with kindness." You can check it out to see if I deserved the boost or not. lol.
Or just ignore it and move on to the stats and earnings.
So as you can see, it wasn’t that bad; it had like 43 reads, even though it had 51 fans. We all have that kind of story. It's kind of frustrating, but it's okay.
I understand. The story is a 4-minute read. Maybe some readers don't have the time to read it all. At least they leave with a clap.
I am not here to judge.
The story’s earnings were around $4 before the boost. The first day was so calm, views-wise, that it had only 56 I thought that was it, and I'm not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting a little more.
The following day, it received 218 views, and the fourth day, April 24, received 567 views. That was pretty cool, but the earnings for 567 views were a little disappointing: $2.25.
Following those days, the number of views dropped to around 100 until April 29. So I can say that the boost lasted for, like, 8 days. I think that's enough.
Before revealing the final stats for the story, I want you to take a look at this.

That's a little odd, isn't it? 562 views earned me $2.25, and 52 views with 6 minutes of reading time earned me $2.01.
There are many of you who have experienced this, and there are many explanations for it, but I’ll give you mine. I am not sure that's 100% the case.
My take is that when you have a story that has gone viral or is getting a lot of views and readers, it may be a lot of pressure, and sometimes Medium miscalculates your earnings, so they’ll add it the next day.
I'm not sure, but after having it happen to me several times, I believe that's the most logical explanation.
And honestly, I love when it happens; it usually surprises you.
However, I can say that being boosted is an exciting and surprising experience, and I want to thank this amazing platform for always finding ways to satisfy their writers.
And this story demonstrates that Medium keeps its word; everyone is given a chance, and when you get the boost, they literally give you the push they promised and the traffic you desire.
According to my experience, it lasts about 8 days, with the third and fourth days being the most important in terms of views.
Medium literally did more than enough with the traffic they got me, and I am so grateful, but sadly, I believe that my story should have generated more read time and earnings with the number of views it received, but this type of story is not for everyone, and that's okay.
Here are the stats after the boost; you can clearly see the difference:

Not bad, huh? I also gained a large number of new followers, subscribers, and two new referrals.
I don't usually like to share earnings and stats, but I wanted to show you this amazing experience and encourage those who haven't gotten boosted yet that it's worth it to wait, and if you’re putting in the work, you’ll get boosted eventually.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
Peace
