I Pause…

Poetry prompt day:-20

Photo by Joshua Oyebanji on Unsplash

I pause to write poetry I pause to smell the roses I pause to listen to nature sing I pause to remain in silence I pause to take meditative breaths I pause to express my gratitude

I pause to say I love you I pause to call my friends and family I pause to give someone a hug I pause to smile at a stranger I pause to have a conversation I pause to comment and clap on Medium

I pause to dedicate time to myself and I pause to show others I care.

We have so much happening around us and sometimes we need to press pause and pump the brakes on life. We should try to dedicate time to ourselves, as well as to our friends and loved ones, and also to perfect strangers. We should strive to make room in our lives for the things that are important to us. So pump those brakes, smell the roses, take some deep breaths, and smile at a perfect stranger.

Thank you all for reading and I was inspired to write this piece after reading Shaista Malik’s poem.

Also, Dr. Fatima Imam wrote a beautiful piece on this prompt. Please read her contribution here:
