I Paint The Sky With My Eyes
Emotions, Paint, Nature Poetry Prompt Response

My gaze lifts to the bright blue I paint the sky with my eyes, Leaving streaks of forgotten white cloud. My breath, a verdant beginning Reaching tender leaves, shivering On a mottled birch. My skin tingles, charcoal in hand, I run rings around birds Aloft, floating, seeing all. Crushed red granite scratches Tender feet, finding olive green moss, Resting. Nature’s soft caress. A sweet breeze lifts my long hair, Lazily tangling strands, in the twigs Close by. Birds hover, flaxen strands Make clever bedding. My heart sings. Nature’s canvas Of blues and greens, vibrating To the sound of a full, content Heart. Each breath in And out, pays homage to you. The one who drew me here. With pen and ink, with words On a screen. With love in letter form. My gaze lifts to the bright blue, I know. I feel. I see. I breathe.
Painting nature and emotions with words is something I love. I started writing poetry again only a few years ago after several decades of hiatus. The intense love I felt found an outlet through verse! It was glorious!
I started a project, writing a poem a day to the love of my life, which turned into posting on Instagram, which led here, to this platform. I am eternally grateful to the one who inspired all this feeling. The one who unlocked me. Un-numbed me. Helped me feel again ❤
A big thank you to Trisha Traughber for her prompts & this publication ❤
~thanks for reading!~
