I Made Myself into a Medium Tag

And Then What Happened?

A while back, I wrote a humor piece making fun of Medium Tags:

After which I noticed that writer Jack Herlocker also makes fun of Medium tags, so I wrote about that too:

Recently, I was publishing a new story and trying to find the five tags that would best describe it, but I could only come up with four. So I decided to make myself into a Medium tag.

Could I do this?

Why not?

I figured that if Jack could create tags from Falling from Planes and Whacks in the Head, I could make Roz Warren into a tag.

So I did!

Search for the tag Roz Warren and I will turn up.

Will turning myself into a Medium make any difference? Will it help more readers find my work? Will anybody actually search for the tag Roz Warren?

Who knows? Like so much about the way this platform works, the true function of the Medium tag is a mystery.

Still, turning myself into a Medium tag was fun. Going forward, I plan to tag everything I write Roz Warren.

Of course, this could backfire on me. Anyone could write any kind of repulsive schlock or offensive garbage and tag it with Roz Warren and I’d be helpless to stop them.

But I’m hoping that it doesn’t go in that direction. If anything, maybe Roz Warren will turn into a catch-all tag for silly Medium posts.

You could decide to publish an essay about why Joe Biden should appoint a wombat to the Supreme Court and tag it with Roz Warren.

I would be honored! And amused.

The reality is that it’s unlikely that anyone but me will ever tag their work with Roz Warren.

But what I’ve done just might inspire you to make yourself into a Medium tag too.

Maybe we can start the next hot new Medium trend. Or at the very least, we’ll confuse the hell out of the the algorithm.

(Update: Two writers have since tagged sex stories with Roz Warren, He Named His Enormous Cock “The Beast” and Squirt, the Soft Drink: It Tastes Great, But Does It Really Contain Female Ejaculate? I applaud this trend and hope that it continues.)
