I Had A Meltdown Yesterday On The Bus, It Ended Up Being Good For Me

“What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself.” Abraham Maslow

I have been thinking and working on myself since becoming a writer.

I’ve always wanted to read books and think all day, now it’s my job.

I wanted to do the kind of self-discovery I’ve never had time for.

I like to think I have been learning and growing over the past few months, however today I got pissed off about the bus.

I was on my way to meet an associate of mine in a parking lot to buy some pot.

Looking out the window I see the bus stop go by, I forgot to pull the cord, and was forced to get off at the next stop.

Of course, it was about a mile away from where I was trying to go.

When I finally departed the bus I angrily grumbled, out loud, about how much I hated the bus.

This is something I have said many times in the past. I hate the bus but don’t have a car, what can you do.

This is when I usually become angry with myself and berate myself over the fact I am too poor to buy a car.

The reason I give myself is I’m a lazy, good for nothing, degenerate. This quickly leads to a downward spiral of self-hatred.

I noticed rather quickly that I was becoming irrationally angry and had fallen back into an old habit.

The reason could be that I didn’t feel good, making everything uneasy.

I didn’t feel good because I hadn’t smoked weed in a couple of days.

The withdraw from weed isn’t bad compared to other drugs, but it isn’t fun.

Loss of appetite and a constant queasy feeling persists throughout the day and at night you lay in bed tossing and turning, hoping sleep will come.

Is it just the withdraws that was making me act irrational or was there something else?

It did seem to go away fairly quickly. One good thing was the fact that I because aware of it.

That’s why I got over it so quickly.

I realized I had fallen back into an old pattern. By noticing it, I was able to correct myself.

That is part of the process, and it’s a good step, something I can build on.

Changing our thinking can happen overnight, but changing our actions isn’t as easy.

What happens when we get put back into stressful situations?

Do we remain in our new headspace and handle it well, or do we snap and react like we used to?

I’m still on my path to a better life despite my setback today.

That is the best advice I can give to anyone who wants to change their life.

Have a goal, know where you want to go, then keep going until you get there.

We all stumble and make mistakes.

The ones who learn from those situations and grow from them become happier more fulfilled in life.
