How I went all the way up to down in a matter of weeks
Throughout this week, I got absolutely crushed by the Medium readership algorithm. Honestly, this feels really bad.😭
So as a writer, I want to find exactly what caused the sudden drop and how can I make my content viewership stay above the 200 mark.
Why my Viewership Skyrocketed Then🚀
The reason for my increase in viewership was partially due to my article being a viral hit. Here is the article that became a VIRAL HIT with over 1k lifetime view
Yeah, I know that for some people this may be little to them. However, for me, this number is BIG for me as it shows 1/3 of my viewership on my platform right now.
Viral Posts don’t Last Long
The article was posted on 21st December 2022 and at first, it helped attract 20 viewers for the first 5 days. Subsequently, the content reached out to more people shooting to more than 100 viewers each day and at its highest point had 300 views.
As of right now, the content brings in less than 10 viewers a day. A far cry from its prime days. However, I’m quite happy this post managed to bring in $27.32 for just a short 4-minute content.
I’m Back to Square 1🥴
Now my daily viewers are maintaining a consistency of more than 100 viewers a day which according to Medium Support, is the true average viewership I should be getting.
What I’ve Learnt from this
When I think about it, I never thought that my post would go viral. All I did during that time was think about what content would benefit my reader the most.
Don’t depend on going viral
Viral posts don’t last long, probably only a week or two. In order to maintain high viewership and readership, we should maintain consistency when writing.
It’s possible to make good money here
Yeah, now that I have experienced what it’s like to get a 1,000 views article. I can now aim to strive to hit that goal once again to make that kind of income yet again for my content.
Medium respect consistency
Before that viral article, I had posted more than 100 articles in 30 days and maintained my 3~5 post per day interval.
Time to BREAK OUT OF the past
Nothing has changed in my consistency in staying on Medium to write content about myself. I will keep doing the same thing posting 3~5 articles a day. maybe who knows, I may get another viral hit content!
