INSOMNIA#4
I Drank Some “Good Night “ Oil
and went to bed

Only a drop or two he cautioned, you are a notoriously cheap date
A thick blanket covers my body, my mind soon buried beneath its weight
unconscious
when did I lose consciousness?
A dream tugs at the warm edges of sleep
I’m pushing a cart, making my way up and down the aisles
handling items, then replacing them on the shelf no enthusiasm for the task at hand
not a dream, I realize more a recounting of my one outing in the last ten days
Now, I’m in the front hall of our old house, the one where we raised four kids
we are all there, together so happy to see each other
then a dog pees on the carpet
the image dissolves and I wake up, laughing Two, no three cups of coffee needed this morning
Still, I’m thinking this might be the answer to my sleeping problem:)
