I Did, You Didn’t
Now you will, I won’t
I gave you all my time,
and you said,
‘I’m busy’.
I wore clothes of your choice and behaved as you liked,
and you said,
“Look at her clothes.”
or
“Behave more like her.”
I agreed with your thoughts and opinions,
and you said,
“Why can’t you be more yourself?”
I didn’t question your whereabouts,
and you said,
“Where are you going?”
“Who are you going with?”
“When will you be home?”
“What will you be wearing?”
There came a point when I finally understood,
I did everything I could to make it work,
But you didn’t leave me a choice but to question your behavior and the relationship’s worth.
Now that I have had enough,
You will understand your wrongs,
Because I won’t be there to say,
“You’re right.”
You will realize that relationships take two,
Because I won’t be there to prove,
“You matter more than I do.”
You will understand what it feels like to be ignored,
Because I won’t be there to ask,
“So, how was your day?”
