I Bought an Apartment, Moved to a New Country & Create My Dream Life

Here is what happened in August 2022

I was not active on the web in the last weeks of August 2022 because I moved to a new country.

Furthermore, I’ve made my biggest investment (so far) in life — I bought an apartment!

I’ll write it once again for myself — I bought an apartment! 🤩

Having my place to live has been a dream for years.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you might know that I am a Ukrainian who lived, studied, and worked in Budapest, Hungary, for a long time.

Budapest is my second hometown, where each neighborhood sparks a story in my memory.

Budapest gave me everything I needed to start a successful career and life.

I’ve got an MSc in Marketing, spent three years as a marketer at a UX agency, and worked as an SEO specialist at a SaaS company.

At one point, I realized that I wanted more from my life.

I wanted to work on projects that inspire me, travel anytime, anywhere, and manage my time.

I realized that my gorgeous 9–5 job could not let me live my dream life. So, I had to make some changes.

And I made.

I became a solopreneur, moved to sunny Batumi, Georgia, and bought an apartment on the seaside.

Now, I fall asleep, listening to the sea, and wake up with a mountain view.

It feels like a dream come true.

It feels like freedom.

You might wonder, why Georgia, why not any other country?

Here is the story in a nutshell.

I met a gorgeous Georgian guy in Budapest five years ago. We’ve gone through many challenges, strengthening our bond and setting common goals in life.

He is from Batumi, Georgia.

We both work remotely. So, we decided to settle in Batumi temporarily and help my family, which is currently in Ukraine.

Going through all the challenges, I am grateful that I am alive, work on projects that I like, have an opportunity to live in different countries, and support my family in need.

It means a lot to me.

If I could describe August 2022 in one sentence, I’d write the following:

August 2022 was a month when I said goodbye to Budapest, hello to Batumi, bought an apartment (yay!), hit a new record on Medium and Gumroad, wrote a new ebook, and landed a new (hopefully) dream client.

This was a very brief description of a long and intense month.

I want to share more about my Medium and Gumroad achievements.

I doubled my ebook sales on Gumroad in August

You might know that I launched an SEO writing ebook in April 2022.

As an SEO writer, I teach content creators how to write blog posts that hit the Google front page.

This ebook was an experiment.

I did not know if I could sell even one copy of it.

Yet, it turned out to be a success story!

I’ve sold 50+ copies of my ebook by September 2022.

August 2022 was my most fruitful month. I doubled my earnings and made over $600 from ebook sales!

Here is the proof:

It’s such a great feeling when you wake up and see a few ebook sales that happened while you were sleeping.

Selling ebooks is a semi-passive income source.

I work a lot on attracting potential customers.

Everything else is automated, including nurturing, welcome email campaigns, etc.

I got excited about the ebook success that I shared my story with the world on Medium.

Surprisingly, many people want to write and sell an ebook but don’t know how to do it.

They hear stories about the Gumroad marketplace and create ebook selling pages to only get 0 sales at the end.

I’ve heard similar stories from my readers.

They struggle with sales and want to know how to do it without being a social media influencer.

I realized that my experience with ebooks on Gumroad could be helpful to other people.

So, I did the following.

I wrote a new ebook

I’ve made $876.76 on Medium from 13 stories in August 2022

I’ve never treated this platform as a proven channel to make money online for one reason.

I do not make a living writing on Medium.

However, things are rapidly changing.

Today, Medium is my personal and professional blog and a client acquisition channel.

I do not write to go viral.

I do not write unsolicited advice.

Instead, I share my SEO writing, and solopreneurship expertise that I know will be helpful to others.

My goal is not partner earnings anymore. I make more from partnerships and sales.

Yet, my mindset and content shift led to a significant increase in earnings. Here is the proof:

I know that most writers are here to make money from their stories.

However, I don’t think this is the right way to treat the platform.

As a writer who’s been here for two years, I know that partner earnings are unreliable.

You can make way more money by offering your audience what they need.

What’s next?

I am excited to start a new month in my apartment with a new client in a new country.

I’ll be helping one agency with content strategy and SEO writing.

My clients are always my priority. So, I might be less active here.

Nevertheless, I’ll try my best to keep you updated on my progress and achievements.

Despite client work, I keep running my website, selling two ebooks on Gumroad, writing on Medium, and managing collaboration requests.

Too much on one plate?

Maybe!
