Humming Along with the Songs

What songs give me mood a boost?

When is your mood boosted, and what would happen to your body?

I’m not a dancer.

But I move my body a little or a lot when I hear the songs I like.

Music stimulates our memories. Although some can make your eyes tearful sometimes, our memorable songs energize us. They let us smile, and talk about the days when the associated events happened, and our bodies move rhythmically along with the beat.

As I have enjoyed watching Major League Baseball for over a decade, hearing the 7th-inning stretching song makes me happy.

I wasn’t able to watch MLB for years while being in Australia. The deprivation of not hearing the song and watching the games has caused me to relish the song Take Me Out the Ball Game more and feel super alive again when I hear it. It made me swing my upper body from side to side as you see people do in the stadium, standing, singing, and moving slowly from side to side.

Watching MLB games was the THING.

After studying, I enjoyed it on TV.

While cooking, I enjoyed listening to it, checking the scoreboard, hitter, pitcher, etc.

I could say this: My degrees are shaped by baseball games.

It was part of my routine — with my library-brewed coffee (here comes another MLB), studying at the library with coffee and at my place, and watching sports games. Maybe, that’s what MLB stands for, for me.

One of my housemates once said the Men’s League of Baseball. That’s her term. I didn’t judge. It was like another housemate who said NASDAQ as Stock of somewhere and something, who is trying to sort the meaning out of the abbreviation. Or, they wanted to make me laugh.

So, I love watching sports games. And MLB has stuck in me.

And thanks to Harry Kelly. It seems he had made the song Take Me Out to the Ball Game so famous, and now people sing it in the 7th inning.

I don’t sing the lyrics from the beginning until the end every time I hear it. I hum along with it and swing my body or head from side to side.

Another song I heard recently that made my eyes wide open was this Greatest Love of ALL. I hummed along with it.

The powerful voice of Whitney, she left for all time. Like other divas I like, their vocal sounds energize me.

Similarly, Celine Dion’s songs boosted my mood again recently. I sang along. I hummed along with her songs. It was when I was watching a movie of her life story.

I can’t just name one song. But yesterday, I listened to one song called I’m Alive. The song always reminds me of her video clip, her concert, which was super fun, and the movie Stuart Little 2 — all those happy scenes lift my mood.

Her life has been changed by a rare disease. I hope she can somehow overcome it and enjoy singing her songs again.

Since the last year, more and more positive and negative things about artificial intelligence (AI) have been seen and heard. One humane thing that people can do for other people right now is to use AI to find cures for those rare diseases but with respect for the privacy of others and value people’s consent to proceed.

It went a bit aside, but these songs were the music I enjoyed in the past, and I heard recently and boosted my mood.
