Human Sexuality
How fluid is it?
This fabulous prompt Weekly Prompts By Ruby (Prompt One) is from Ruby Noir 😈 at Read or Die. It’s all about human sexuality, a topic that I love.
1] How fluid is human sexuality?
I believe that it is a spectrum. There is a model that states that people are not exclusively heterosexual or homosexual (The Kinsey Institute.) And for the most part I believe that. I’ve also read studies that suggest around 10% of people report being exclusively gay, 10% straight and the rest somewhere in between. Sex research is not as prevalent as it should be, in my opinion, so who’s to say?
2] Where do you fall on the sexual fluidity scale?
When asked, I identify as bisexual, leaning more towards men. However, the term bisexual assumes that there are only two genders, which is not the case. So, I suppose omni-sexual may be more appropriate.
3] Is there an innate curiosity about what sex would be like with the same gender?
I believe that everyone thinks about it at some point in their lives. Even if it’s just in passing. Some more than most, of course.
4] Is there a discrepancy in that level between men and women and if there is — why is there that discrepancy?
I don’t think that there is a discrepancy in the amount of time spent thinking about it. However, I do believe that it is underreported with men, do to societal influences.
5] Is there a difference in the fluidity of sexuality between genders? Or are all humans fluid but deny it? Or is there no fluidity and you are what you are?
I absolutely think that sexuality is fluid with most people. I think that there is a lot of denial that goes on. But that is a person’s right. Sexuality is very personal for some people, and I respect them if they don’t want to admit or discuss it.
