How with Only 300 Views I Was Able to Earn 10 Dollars
External views vs Internal views.
Time and time again I see writers wondering, here on Medium, why they aren't getting great profits when they have stories with thousand of views.
And essentially it all comes down to the percentage of internal views and internal reads.
The inside readers, are the ones who pay for their subscription to this platform.
External views and reads don’t actually matter, period.
-And so as an example here's how I earned 10 dollars with an article that doesn't have thousands of views, not even a thousand.
I published the story: 30 dating tips from a dating coach, earlier this month of February in my own pub, and even though it wasn’t chosen for “further distribution” it still generated me 10 dollars in 7 days, which is honestly not bad at all.

Once again, as you can see in the screenshots, you don’t necessarily need to have “viral pieces” in order to gain some cash here.
You do need to have paying members from Medium reading your stories.
On the next image you can notice the percentages of the Internal and External traffic:

— The external views were 9% and the internal ones were 91%.

I receive my profits from the 7 hours and 17 minutes of members' reading time.
To conclude:
Don’t focus too much or don’t waste your energy overanalyzing the articles that didn’t do well because the reality is that many won't do well.
That's just how it is.
Instead, always focus on finding ways of providing value with your content.
You need to add value. Value comes from solving a problem people have. If it doesn’t solve a problem then it’s worth $0. The good news is the problem you solve doesn’t have to be massive. You could simply solve the problem of boredom with hilarious comedy… — Tim Denning
So just keep going, keep writing and keep submitting. You will get there.
