In recent articles, you have heard me talking about Grace Hopper Celebration, reasons to go (this link), applying to be a GHC volunteer (this link), and also how to write a strong scholarship application (this link).

And in my most recent article, you can find a full guide to preparation for Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) 2023:

Today, I want to answer other questions in regard to the AnitaB career center website, the member portal and the resume database.

The Membership Page

With your pass to attend GHC, you have access to a 1-year membership in the AnitaB portal. Being a member of AnitaB gives you benefits like:

  1. Accessing exclusive events with sponsors.
  2. Connecting with other women through the member area.
  3. Access to different affinity groups and communities (even this one specific for GHC 2023).
  4. Technical and career-related content.

Remember: you can access the resume database regardless; it is free for everyone.

Step-by-Step: Membership Page

  1. Login to the Portal: https://membership.anitab.org/members/edit.asp.

2. Fill out your profile, including academic and professional information and photo. Be mindful with the tags you are including:

Make sure to include tags related to the areas you are looking for. I say that because, when I attended GHC in the past, I remember some of my friends being targeted with job positions and events that I wasn’t, and vice-versa.

Simply because we were in different stages of our careers and in different domain areas of expertise. So, the more mindful you are about tagging, the better to be recognized by other women and recruiters.

3. Submit and save your information.

4. Starting connecting with other women. For example, my page is this one:

5. Engage in groups and communities.

The Career Center Website & Resume Database Pages

As I mentioned, the resume database is open and free for everyone. You can access the Career Center and Resume Database at the link below:

In this link, you can access the options to upload your resume. You can log in as a member or a guest.

There, you will have access to multiple job positions:

On the website, they are also offering resume reviews. You can follow this link to upload yours and get a free resume review.

When you are searching for the jobs after logging in, you see a page like the one below to apply for the different positions. You can apply through the website or simply send an email:

To find this page, click here. You have to log in to access full functionalities (like applying to the job position) on the page.

Manage Your Resumes

On this page, you are able to upload multiple resumes.

When I was searching for jobs back in 2017, I had three different resumes: 1) data science, 2) solutions engineering, 3) project management. I printed my resumes to give to employers at the career fair, but by that time, AnitaB didn't have the option to have multiple resumes in the database. So having this feature is a cool option.

Follow this link to access the manage your resumes page.

Upload your resumes, and then you can publish them to be accessible to sponsors and employers:

As I mentioned in the main guide for GHC, it is always good to interact with employers, sponsors, and technical recruiters on LinkedIn and Twitter and start applying for jobs before the conference. By doing that, you will expand your chance to have interviews scheduled during the conference.
