Did you know that many of your previously published stories can be strategically modified and turned into evergreen stories that earn you more money?

When you understand just how to tweak and adjust certain stories that you formerly published, you might just find that more people will want to read them.

In fact, your stories can become a lot more marketable, so that you can potentially sell them outside the Medium platform.

Case in point — many of you may be tuning in for the first time, to the recent news I shared about another write for pay opportunity for Medium writers.

What I discovered is a cool way to get paid for your stories, even some of those previously published stories that are gathering dust here on Medium.

How cool is that???

Of course, like with most things in life, there are certain conditions that apply, and you’ll have to do some finessing, when it’s time to submit your stories. But that’s where the information you’re about to read comes in.

I’m about to provide you with a few valuable tips about the story I submitted and got approved to start getting paid for.

I’ll even do my best to tell you exactly what I did to turn that previously published Medium story into an evergreen article that is a lot more marketable.

Here goes…

Helpful day-to-day updates about an income earning opportunity

In my effort to provide only the most honest and useful information about the “Marker” website located at http://markercontent.com, I’ve published 7 related stories (including this one).

In each story, I discussed my most recent interactions with the website, and tried to let you know what to expect.

You can check the stories out at your leisure, and they’re all available right here in a convenient list. Just click to

As you will see when you read the seventh story, titled: Here’s What’s Happening with My New Money Making Opportunity! I submitted one of my stories to Marker and had it approved by them.

Now, my story is available in their marketplace and has the potential to make me lots of recurring income.

I’m sure you’re probably curious by now, about the type of articles that have the best chance of selling on Marker.

So allow me to tell you about the story I submitted to them and why I think I made a wise choice.

Use the guidelines to your benefit and create stories that will sell

Since the Marker website provides very useful guidelines, as well as specific requirements for your article submissions, I did myself a favor and made sure to use them to my benefit.

For example, I paid attention to the restrictions against writing:

Political content, timely or dated content, personal opinions, profanity, slang, and other issues that present barriers when it comes to buying articles.

I kept in mind that the web owners who seek material for their websites, don’t want dry and stiff articles with no personality, HOWEVER, the articles can’t be individualized or too personal either.

The best and most marketable topics are those that have a mass appeal and no shelf life.

Another thing that I personally believe is important and relevant to your stories, is the use of simple SEO strategies and concepts.

Web owners who will potentially buy your articles, want content that has the ability to rate well in the search engines.

By regularly using just a few basic SEO techniques, your stories will perform well for those who choose to buy and utilize them.

These techniques pertain to your title and subtitle, as well as subheadings within the story, and also the tags and key phrases that the story contains.

I’m a big believer, when it comes to injecting the right terms and phrases for SEO sake. In fact, I’ve shared some valuable details on the subject, right here on Medium.

With all these thoughts about SEO and more, I was able to take my time and craft just the write article as my first submission to Marker.

Let me tell you my own little recipe…

Choosing a topic that is useful and relevant

In order to select a category that is useful and relevant for both the current time and in the future, I chose a health related topic.

Here are some interesting points about my story and what I did to create and submit it.

  1. The title of the article I submitted is: “How to Benefit from an Edible Landscape When You Have Limited Space for a Garden”.
  2. The original 13 minute story called: How Does an Edible Landscape Help You Grow Food with Limited Space? (rarely read on Medium), contained an excessive amount of details and was cut down to 6 minutes.
  3. The resulting article was newly published on Marker, after useful content was extrapolated from the original Medium story.
  4. The new article was modified to have a more formal tone, and written with a different focus than the original story, which had multiple themes.
  5. The new structure of the content was written in a way that allows buyers to glean details from specific sections and focus only on the related content they want to share with their readers (such as: Why have an edible landscape, how to start an edible landscape, how to maintain an edible landscape, etc.)

Now that I’ve had one story in the “health” category approved, I think it makes sense to submit the next couple of stories to the same category.

When I do, I’ll be sure to provide an update about it.

Final thoughts

I actually created a totally new story for the Marker submission, but keep in mind, their website details indicate that YES, older stories are okay.

This is according to their own words:

Of course, each writer will have to weigh the pros and cons when it comes to deciding what to do about Medium stories that you decide to publish on Marker.

Personally speaking, I’m not a big fan of deleting old content. I’d rather do what I’ve mentioned here instead.

If you use the same method that I used for my first story mentioned above, there will be no problem or conflict.

  • My original story is still posted on Medium, minus a lot of the content that the story can actually do without.
  • My new Marker article has not been duplicated at all, so no issues exist, regardless of how you might interpret Marker’s article guidelines.

Now that you have a good understanding about how to modify some of your previously published stories, you can be strategic and turn some of that content into evergreen stories that earn you more money.

You don’t have to just do it for stories that remain here on Medium. You can read more about Marker and start submitting your evergreen stories there also.

So far as I can tell, it’s a pretty good-looking money making opportunity, but only time will tell.

Stay tuned for further updates…
