How To Tell The Difference Between Your Intuition And Intrusive Thoughts
One is anxiety, the other is your higher self.
Using your intuition to navigate throughout life is a goal and lifestyle for many people. However, sometimes listening to your intuition can be hard because your intrusive thoughts get in the way. Intrusive thoughts are thoughts that randomly pop up in your head and stem from fear while intuitive thoughts are thoughts that you get from your higher self.
How To Tell The Difference
It can be difficult to tell the difference between the two because they both pop up in your head the same way. However, the key difference is the feeling they induce. Intrusive thoughts are usually based on how you feel about something and your biased opinion on it. For example, if you’re someone who likes to unconsciously self-sabotage themselves, every time you’re setting a new goal for yourself your brain might tell you, “You’ll never make it, it’s too unrealistic.” These thoughts are usually anxiety-driven which is why they’re negative most of the time. Anxious thoughts come from fears and the “What if’s” of a situation. I used to struggle with intrusive thoughts so much that I thought I had an actual demon living in my head!
Intuitive thoughts should never give you a feeling of anxiety. I’m sure by now you’ve heard about the “gut feeling” your intuition gives you and it’s true. Your intuitive thoughts stem from this gut feeling. Before any thoughts actually pop into your head, you’ll feel the answers you're looking for. If you’re having intuitive thoughts, you’ll feel at ease and reassured because that’s the universe telling you that one way or another, everything will be fine in the end. Intuitive thoughts also tend to make more sense than intrusive thoughts.
Getting Rid Of Intrusive Thoughts
This is a hard task for some people, especially people who struggle with anxiety. However, I believe that meditation can solve most of your issues. The reason is because when you meditate, you’re getting in touch with your higher self which holds all of the answers you seek. If you want to get rid of intrusive thoughts, do a meditation to lessen anxiety and make yourself feel grounded. You can even begin working on your root chakra which is what provides stability in your life. This is definitely something you’re going to have to do multiple times to see a lasting effect, but trust me it’s worth it!
You can become more intuitive by opening up your 3rd eye. Your 3rd eye chakra is related to all the things our conscious mind and eyes cannot see. We all hold a deep, mystical power within us and it’s our choice if we want to unlock that power or not.
