How to Tag People and Make Them Read Your Whole Article

Introducing sneaky tagging to the community

I’m going to tag you

Tagging people is a well known strategy to bring eyeballs to your shitty articles¹¹. We’ve all been there. No need to be ashamed. I do it all the time.

BUT

There’s one big problem. Tagged people don’t read the whole article.

They just skim through or use the search function, to find their name — CTRL+F or CMD+F if you’re weird.

Once found, they read their name a few times, enjoy the pleasure of seeing it on a screen, and then move on to another article. Without reading yours.

Sometimes, they feel generous and read one paragraph or two, but that’s not enough. I mean, you made the effort of tagging them and they don’t give you their precious reading time?!

Ungrateful bastards.

I’m here to help.

Here’s the four-step process for sneaky tagging²²

1. Tag the person of your choice.

For this example, I’ll choose my good friend Rocky Shores.

2. Select the name

3. Write something

While the (whole) name is selected, start typing. The word you’ll type will replace the name of the friend you selected but the tag will stay. As you can see below the color remained the “tagging color.”

4. Enjoy

Takeaway

Let me demonstrate how powerful this technique can be by tagging nineteen of my dear friends on this platform.

Let me stop right there or people will not be my friends anymore.
