How To Supercharge Your Writing Productivity By 10X By Using 3 Simple Tricks!
All you need is a target, a Time-box, and zero movements to become a monster writing machine.

It is funny how our brains work when we think we are ready to write. The moment we sit at our desks, we cannot wait to get up and go away. A broken momentum prolongs the duration from start to publish unnecessarily. How do we combat this?
I have 3 tricks that I have refined over the past 4 months of daily writing. It has worked for me in terms of focus and writing productivity. These days, I write one story before focusing on other work.
Let me share the 3 tricks that guarantee a daily story submission. Note, I mean submission. It is different from publication, as that depends on the editors’ workload.
Tricks Of The Trade # 1 — Have A Target.
Specifically, we have to have a headline target.
Time is our greatest asset and enemy. We never have enough time in our hands. So, writing when we are busy is challenging. How can we have our cake and eat it?
If you are familiar with my How To Be Crazy Successful Writing In Medium series, you will have a glimpse in terms of my planning.
I will work out a series, where I write one pillar story to that series daily. I may write about ideas on Monday, followed by duration on Tuesday, and social media distribution on Friday.
The headline is worked out once and is used repeatedly for all stories within the series. Each pillar story is planned for on Day 1.
This approach works because I get to choose from a list of topics to work on. The plan might say that I am slated to write about social media distribution today, but I have no juice for that. So, I switch and write about publications instead.
Flexibility is built into the plan. So is speed. I start writing the moment I open a Word document.
Tricks of The Trade # 2 — Have A Time-Box.
We aggressively pull our goals towards us when we set a Time-box.
I like to think that I can only spare an hour for writing in a day. My Time-box is 60 minutes. I have to spend every minute very carefully because I have to write, edit, check for grammar, search for the right images, and then publish.
It is a tight timeline.
This is magic. The moment we start compressing our time for completion, our brains crank up to Gear 5. Not only do we think faster, but we also type faster.
And not to forget, if we use the series method, we would have saved minutes of our time running our headlines through headline analyzer over and over.
Try it. It works like a charm.
Of course, there are days where I exceed the Time-box due to biological breaks. Incurring an additional 5 minutes of writing beats writing nothing at all.
Am I right?
Tricks of The Trade # 3 — Zero Movement.
When it comes to losing weight and exercising — Move at every opportunity.
When it comes to writing productivity — Stay there and do not move.
We are seduced by the idea of writing in a quiet café down the street, especially when we are sick and tired of our desks. I have been there.
It rarely works.
The issue is not about the working space. The issue is we dread writing for that day. It is a big difference.
Instead of heading to the café and be distracted by people pacing up and down — Do this.
Head to our working space, power on the laptop, and start typing as fast as possible.
As an example, imagine driving a car. Do you tend to yawn when you are driving 20km/h or 120km/h? Speed invoke focus.
Our minds become sharp once again.
So, stay where we are and speed type. You will be surprised by your progress.
A Conclusion.
Productivity is complex. It should not be made further complicated.
Productivity is like an engine we carry with us, and the efficiency of these engines determines our produce.
If we want to produce more stories as a writer, we need to write more.
And that means we need to have a laser-beam focus through a target, a Time-box, and with zero-movement.
While this works for me, I hope that it will also work for you.
