Hey All,

My name is Jeff and it is a pleasure to meet you. To decided I wanted to submit a story to a publication.

There’s just one problem. I don’t know how to submit a story to a publication.

So I figured why not have my first submitted story be be a how to guide on how to submit a story to a publication. (If you are reading this now it means I figured it out.)

Here is my breakdown on how to submit a story to a publication.

Step 1. Find a publication you want to submit to and follow their process to apply. (May I suggest Short. Sweet. Valuable. as a great place to start?)

Step 2. After you find a publication read their guidelines for how to apply to write for them.

Step 3. Re-read the submission guidelines for the publication you want to submit to. (This is an important step. Every publication is different so you’ll want to read the guidelines carefully.)

Step 4. Share a draft or publish and add to publication

Some publications want you to send them a draft of the article, before they’ll publish it. If that is the case, all you need to do is click the three dots in the upper right corner and press add to publication.

If you don’t need to share a draft you can publish the story like normal, and then press add to publication.
