How to See Problems as Potential Teachers

A lesson on changing your perspective from negative to positive

Most people would agree that one of the main source of stress in our lives is problems. While that is true but their are benefits from problems. Note our stress level is based on our reaction to a problem and not the problem itself. Think about it, how much of a problem do we make out of our problems. Some begin small and becomes these huge boulders to deal with. Do we recognize our problems for what they truly or and what they do for our lives? Do we see them as potential teachers or as emergencies?

Problems and obstacles come in so many shapes, sizes, degrees of seriousness and duration. They all have one common denominator, they present us with a challenge that we usually don’t desire and wish it would disappears as fast as it came. Struggling with a problem doesn’t make it better or go away, as a matter of fact, all seem to become considerably worst before it gets better.

Ironically, the opposite is true, when you accept your problem as an inevitable part of life, and see them as potential teachers, the weight of the problem becomes considerably lighter and bearable. Mentally, you will feel as if a weighted object has been lifted from your shoulders.

Think on a problem of the past that you may have struggled with for some time. How did you deal with that problem? The commonality with most when handling a problem, all struggle with it, mentally rehearsed it, analyzed it again and again, what went wrong, etc. Going through all this, where did it get you? Usually this way of thinking leads to more confusion and stress.

Try a new way by thinking of the problem a different way. Rather than fight the problem and resisting it, embrace it. Mentally hold the problem close to your heart. Ask yourself what lesson are you suppose to learn from this problem or what is this problem trying to teach you. Could the lesson be trying to teach you to be more careful or patient? Does it have anything to do with anger issues, greed, envy, carelessness, jealousy, envy or forgiveness? Think on your problem in a genuine fashion to learn the lesson from it. Holding your problem in this light, and your problem will soften like a clenched fist that is opening.

In closing, most problems aren’t the emergencies that we make them out to be. We turn them into emergencies and fight a batter causing more stress that is warranted to solve it. Once we learn what we need to learn, the problems begin to go away. Learn and release or fight and stress more.
