How to follow the Road to Balancing your Wacky Hormones
The road to hormonal balance begins with you! When you eat right, the body rights itself.
Seven things to get your hormones in check! Why? Because your hormones control a lot of the body’s functions such as mood, energy, sleep, metabolism, social behavior, immune system, inflammation, pain, hair, skin, and the list goes on.
With age comes hormonal changes, up and down with no end in sight, but if you check them in time, your journey would be less stressful and frightful for others. Check your hormones at the door with a few tips and enjoy life as it comes.
When the hormones get out of balance, health problems such as diabetes, weight gain or loss, infertility, weak bones, irregular periods, difficulty sleeping, acne, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and tons more problems occur. from the physical to the mental and all in between becomes paramount.
Ways to balance your hormones

- Practicing yoga to reduce stress which affects the entire body
- Getting more sound and uninterrupted sleep
- Healthy Eating to promote hormonal balance in the body
- Exercising regularly
- Eliminate or minimize processed foods (Comprised of pesticides which have been linked to female’s hormones disruption.)
Learn to eat all things in moderation from the complex carbs to the various vegetables. Too much a good thing could also be bad for the body just like the refine carbs, caffeine, sugary drinks and sugars.
Kale and cruciferous vegetables contain goitrogens, which can block iodine from entering the thyroid gland. The body needs iodine to make thyroid hormones to promote normal metabolism. It is recommended that cruciferous vegetables be cooked to deactivate the enzyme that can cause the goitrogenic effect.
Not sure how much to eat? Listen to your body. It will tell you. Sometimes we just miss the cues. Listen and you shall hear.
A healthy gut is paramount in keeping your hormones balanced. Having the following foods with probiotics, i.e. (like fermented food, yogurt, sauerkraut) and prebiotics (like bananas, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms) foods will help keep your gut healthy. There are some supplements that are good for gut health, i.e. cod liver oil (which have vitamins A and D in their fat-soluble form), glutamine, aloe, and curcumin can help the gut barrier.
Moderation is the key and proportion is recommended per meal. The body can only eliminate so much of the intake calories per meal and smaller meals are best. In maintaining a healthy diet, it is recommended to minimize your consumption of sugar, gluten, dairy, caffeine, and alcohol, aka, empty calories.
