How to Make the World a Better Place

Meaningful things that we do every day have a tremendous impact on others and on our personal development

What does it take to make the world a better place? Is it simply about changing into a new outfit and doing something nice for others? Or does it involve action that takes more than just one person’s effort, like voting and lobbying for change? What if we’re mistaken about what needs fixing in the first place? What if our very way of life — our culture — is failing us and we’re so invested in it that we don’t realize there’s more than one way of living?

We live in an era where social injustices are still rampant. Resource needlessly wasted.

We live in a chaotic era. At some point in time, it felt as if all we ever did is react to the latest Trump Tweet, following it with a flurry of angry social media posts. We found ourselves caught in the whirlwind of a fight going nowhere. And while we knew what to do, we all felt too tired to make a meaningful change.

But the truth is that the world needs us. The world needs us to make ourselves better people.

Most of us are too busy trying to get by and not making that much of a difference in the world. Some of us work hard at it and achieve success, but most people do not. Yet all of us can make the world a better place, and make ourselves a better people in the process.

All it takes is doing one or two meaningful things every day.

In an age when it’s easier to do nothing at all, it takes a lot of strength and tenacity to be able to look yourself in the eye every day and say, “I did something meaningful today.” And yet we’re capable of it.

If it’s hard to convince ourselves to be active sometimes, then it is also hard for others to encourage us as well. That’s why it’s important for us to fight the inertia and encourage others, who might feel the same.

The secret to being happy is that you must first be wise. — Buddha

Who you are is a reflection of who you surround yourself with.

What Does It Mean To Make The World A Better Place

We can start by making our own world a better place, just by being good at the things we do.

Knowledge is Power

When you choose to be active and make a difference in the world, you are creating the knowledge and consciousness necessary to change it.

But how? Knowledge is power and a great way to give back is to empower others.

Allow me to give you an example of a meaningful way to change the world. Every day, I like to read through the news and actively look for ways in which I can help people. I do this by sharing useful information, or by just providing encouragement to others.

Recently, I came across a post on Twitter that was heartbreaking. I could see the author had been overwhelmed with grief and emptiness and wanted to share the message with people who would understand how he was feeling.

It’s not my place to solve the author’s problem, but it is my place to be there when he needs me. And I know that many others like me are available for him.

When we know how to do something, that’s when we can share it with others. And if enough of us know what needs to be done, the world will change for the better.

The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of tiny pushes of each honest worker. — Helen Keller

Be Honest

Honesty is a rare quality that most people lack.

Most of us lie to ourselves and to others because we don’t like to face the truth. But being honest is the only way to solve our problems.

The truth always hurts, but it’s worth it when you find out the truth about people you care about.

For example, the author’s post was very honest. He told the truth about how he felt and what he thought of the problem and hoped others would relate to his pain. He also introduced himself with honesty and told people who he was.

This is how honesty is supposed to work. And it’s amazing how just knowing that you are honest can make a big difference in the world.

Activity = Happiness = Change = Better World and Better People

Choosing to be active every day could be the secret to happiness. When you choose to be active and make the world a better place, you will eventually be rewarded with a better life and happier times.

The best time to start doing things for others is now. When you know what needs to be done, do it.

A good thing to do every day could be:

  • Reading articles and social media posts to find opportunities to help others.
  • Encouraging those in need.
  • Helping someone else solve a problem.
  • Giving to charities.
  • Preventing future problems.
  • Living a life that is good and true and honest, so you can make the world a better place.

Then, you will know what it means to be a good person.

You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine. — Tony Robbins

Summarize

It is simple. It is easy. We all can do it. All it takes is the strength, courage, and determination to be honest with ourselves and with others. And to choose to make ourselves a better person by doing something meaningful every day.

Then, you will know what it means to be a good person, who understands that being active in the world is the key to helping ourselves and others — and ultimately making the world a better place we all deserve to live in.

Good People Spread Good Energy

People who do good things to make the world a better place do so because it makes them feel great. And, the more people we reach, the greater the positive impact we can make.
