Every day we make many decisions and choices in our life, what to eat, what to wear, do you need to make coffee at home or you can grab while going to work, what to watch. Many such decisions seem small and insignificant, but if you look back at the end of your day, you have made similar kinds of decisions 100 times in a day.

We usually don’t pay attention to our day to day decisions, but if you calculate, you might be spending significant physical and mental energy, and time making these kinds of decisions.

So when it comes to making important decisions or making smart choices, you might feel stuck or exhausted mentally and physically.

Sometimes you open Netflix and spend hours just to decide what to watch and after investing hours — you end up watching nothing as you were not able to decide on one thing that you want to watch.

I have been there and ended up exhausting myself and disappointed, just to think only if I could have done something productive during that time.

Now the question is how to skip this kind of mental break out. The easiest answer is, make fewer decisions or choices in your day to day life. I know it’s not easy or simple as it sounds.

I have curated simple points to make your day to day life easy where you can have enough mental energy left to make important decisions and choices in your life.

1- Prepare for work outfit in advance — You might be doing work from home or going to work. In any case, you can pick 4–5 different outfits ready (washed and ironed) in your wardrobe or you can choose outfits that don’t need much effort to put on.

You can easily grab and put it on when you’re having a work video meeting or need to step out from your house to take a quick meeting.

I can definitely tell you with this planning, I have reduced significant stress on deciding what to wear every morning and how to mix and match my outfits for my zoom video meetings and quick face time with my friends.

2- Start with weekly meal preparation— You know, what is the most frequently asked question in my house. It’s “What To Eat?” and I am sure you can relate too.

To reduce my efforts, I have started doing buffet-style meal planning either on Sunday evening or on Monday.

You can chop or cut vegetables and keep them in glass airtight containers. You can saute (or boil ) vegetables and keep them in separate containers. Keep the marinated meat( chicken, salmon, or any other meat ) in the freezer.

You can use it for the next 3–4 days. You can use it to make, pasta, salad bowls, or mix it with rice/quinoa, tortillas. Keep salad dressings, dips ready and keep in boxes. You can also opt to get ready-made dips and dressings based on your liking.

Weekly meal prep hardly takes an hour or two and you are all set for your entire week. Your meals are ready in less than 15 mins without any hassle and difficulties. It will make you eat healthy throughout the week and less temptation to order food online.

You can also set up online grocery deliveries in advance using Whole Food, Insta -Cart, Amazon Prime delivery, etc.

3-Automatic Payments for your bills and investments — It happens many times when we forget to pay our bills and rely on reminders to pay our bills. One more headache if you miss a payment and you end up paying a late fee.

Set automatic payments for utility bills, house rent, mortgages, or for your investment portfolios. This way you don’t need to think about payments and investing your time logging in and paying your bills.

4- Put work meetings in advance for at least a week before- You can plan ahead for your meetings with coworkers, teams, and important appointments.

This way you can plan your workday better and stick to your timelines. Encourage your co-workers also to plan a bit ahead for meetings and work if possible.

It can significantly reduce stress to meet people and calmly you can complete your work. Even if you get any emergency work, meetings, you will have significant time available to add to your day.

Similarly, you can set up doctor's appointments or any important engagements in advance based on your convenience.

5- Last but not least keep the focus on ONE major goal that you want to accomplish in a week or a month — You can have weekly or monthly goals based on urgency and priority.

As you are going to have enough time planning and working towards your goal. You will definitely be going to achieve it.

Try to list down your goals, set the time limit and priorities. By doing this, you will feel less stressed and burned out to accomplish your goals. Start adding small and attainable goals in your planner.

Like if you want to learn a new skill in a month. Start putting 30–45 minutes ( or any time applicable to you) aside to learn a bit of that skill and practice.

These are a few simple things that you can do in your day-to-day life without burning out yourself, making time and mental space for important decisions you need to take, or in case you are working towards any major goal.

All you need to do is develop a routine and consistent habits. I am sure you will reach there and hope these points are going to help you to organize your day for the better and keep your mind at ease.
