How to Let Go
Day 97: Continuous surrender brings peace

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night. It is a rare occurrence for me. I am usually a heavy sleeper. My stomach hurt just a little bit, and I was too warm. I got up for a few minutes, not sure what time it was. I know it was well before my alarm was to go off. Slowly, I was able to drift off to sleep. I had the thought that in the morning, I needed to take some elderberry syrup I had in the fridge. I feel that this was a sign that I am having an awakening of the spirit, and that I need to rest and take good care of my body. Sometimes on our path, we will find more attachments and emotions to let go of, and our spirit will find a way to communicate to us exactly what we need to do. On my 100-day spiritual journey, each day, I surrender a little more as I explore the book Letting Go by David R. Hawkins.
Sometimes we surrender a feeling, and we notice that it returns or continues. That is because there is more of it yet to be surrendered. -David R. Hawkins
As I continually go through the letting go process, more feelings and attachments present themselves. This is part of the path of surrender. Along the way, there will be more to explore. We need not fear those feelings. They are there to guide and teach us.

I can feel that there is a deep attachment that I am in the process of surrendering. This requires a lot of energy. It is important that I let my body relax, and I let my thoughts go by without judgement. Sometimes this process takes some time. Giving myself grace to go through this is the key.
Here are the steps to let go:
- Acknowledge the feeling. Feel its presence in your body. Don’t resist the feeling. Just let it be there.
- Relax your body of all tension. Let your muscles relax, be still, and quiet. Let the emotion flow through.
- Let any thoughts that come up float by, without judgment. Imagine the thoughts flying away.
- Let the waves of energy pass through you as you let go of the emotions and attachments.
I do this process through a surrender meditation and also as emotions come up. Some days the meditation is enough. On other days like today, I need to relax into the feelings to let them go.
My prayer and my intention for you today is that you listen to your spirit and to your body. What are they telling you? What are the signs and signals showing you today? Is there an attachment you need to let go of? Is there an emotion that keeps coming up for you?
What emotions are coming up for you today?
