Writing Prompt
How to Get Out of the Way of Your Stress
Response to ten-word story challenge
Stress is a part of life. It can challenge us every day no matter what the reason.
I was a trauma victim for many years of my life. Trauma can cause anxiety and stress. I learned the hard way that if I did not control my stress, it would control me.
I learned how stress could cause debilitating physical illness for me, and it did. Stress made my life a living hell.
I had to discover ways to instill calm within my raging waters of anxiety and depression. I am grateful that I learned several different meditation techniques that worked for me.
Below are two ten-word challenge stories:
- Meditation is about my breathing. Breathing is about controlling stress.
This is my favorite meditation to help ease my anxiety:
2. Breathe in, smell the flowers. Exhale, blow out the candles.
Slowing down our breathing can help slow down our anxiety. Stress is mostly about controlling our anxiety instead of allowing our anxiety to control us.
Life will always bring stress our way. It’s how we handle our stress that makes a difference.
What do you choose?
Giving up control and allowing stress to take away your power?
or
Keeping your control and enjoying a more peaceful life?
