Get more views with personalized content — A brief guide

I know you are sad.

When you see your stories’ stats, you enter into the sad zone. Don’t worry. You’ll get out of here eventually!

Do you feel like everyone is writing about the same thing, but your stories don’t even appear when people search for it on Medium?

Yes, this has happened to me too (and I learned it the hard way). It’s ok, though. You’re not alone.

One day, I asked myself: What special should I do that encourage people to view my stories?

Woohoo! I got the answer.

It’s the POWER OF PERSONALIZED CONTENT.

People want content that HELPS

See, you need to understand that people want to see the real you. They want to know your struggles and how you overcame them. Something that actually serves as a survival guide.

Since I know that people are always looking for ways to make more money, I thought:

why not share my story with them?

Why not teach them the techniques that helped me…

So, I wrote a blog on “Make $1000 A Month Real Fast Using Zip Recruiter”

Viola! It worked.

You can see the stats…

So my friend, today I’ll tell you what I’ve learned from Medium.

This will help you get more views on Medium.

1) Choose the topic that adds value

When you write about a topic that people are genuinely interested in, you provide value to them. This is what will help you attract attention and keep readers engaged.

For example, if you’re a personal finance blogger, share tips on how to save money or invest wisely. If you’re a fitness enthusiast, share workout routines.

Nobody wants to know what your cat was doing yesterday, so it’s good for your personal diary. Keep it there only.

Think of what special value you can bring to your readers.

Don’t be afraid of going back to the old topics if they’ve been helpful in the past and still have a lot more value for today’s audience.

2) Use a conversational tone

We are not robots! Please don’t write like you’re addressing your readers with business letters.

Remember, the goal of blogging is to build relationships. So it’s important to create a unique personality for yourself and be relatable on every post.

Use a conversational tone throughout your blog posts without sounding too casual or unprofessional. Some bloggers like using emojis in their blog. Yeah! I am one of them. :D

3) It’s all about engagement!

Keep in mind that the ultimate goal of blogging is to engage with your audience and help them out. So always ask yourself how you can provide value and be of service to your readers.

Think of the problems people face, try to answer them with your posts.

Every blog post should answer one question or provide value in some way. So make sure that the content you create is unique and has a purpose.

4) Make your content scannable

The Wall of text is a big NO!

Make sure your content is easy to scan by using lists, headings and subheadings.

Include images and videos

People love visuals! So make sure you include images and videos in your posts. This will help keep readers engaged and interested in what you have to say.

5) Take help of Screenshots

We all love personalization. Don’t we?

Whether you want to teach a concept, solve a problem or just share an experience, screenshots are the best way to get your point across.

If you’re posting on a topic that’s more complex and requires users to follow along with instructions step by step then take help of screenshots!

Include relevant links in your posts. You can include links that you feel will help people know more about the topic

6) Talk with proof

People love proof. If you have something interesting or controversial to say, back it up with some data or a study. This will help add credibility to your post and make people more likely to take your advice seriously

See, when I write a post about making money online, I share the proof as well. This validates that whatever I’m saying is actually true and not just baseless claims.

There’s no denying that personalizing content can be a powerful way to increase views on Medium.

7) Don’t be afraid to share your techniques

People love to learn new things, so feel free to share with them what works best for you!

It’s always great to share with people anything that can help them advance their knowledge on the topic of interest.

See, if you are writing something related to making money online and you feel that “hmmm if I share this technique maybe the other person will start earning more. I’ll be left behind.”

Stop.

Right there.

You just created a downward spiral of thoughts that will do nothing but cripple your productivity and success.

Remember, when you help others, the help reaches you too. So, go ahead and share your tips with the world!

If you want to drink the entire ocean you can’t. So be happy with your tasty pie of success.

8) Do share the challenges you faced

Share how you had your fair share of challenges and how you overcame them. But also be sure to share the ah-ha moments, the eureka insights, and victories.

Write as if your best friend is reading it — someone who is interested in hearing about your journey and wants to learn from your experiences.

That’s what people want to hear — a human story, not a dry, boring recitation of facts and figures.

When you share your story in an authentic and interesting way, people will want to read it — and they’ll be more likely to remember you and what you have to say. So go ahead and start writing!

Last but not least…

Write it ALL BY YOURSELF

Only you know about your journey…

The emotions associated with it…

AI-Assistants can’t feel your emotions — they can’t read your thoughts.

Only you can write the story of your life in a way that will inspire others. So go ahead and start writing!

My friend, all I’ve to say is BE REAL!

because you already know…

“Real is rare.”
