How To Get More People To Read Your Stories
This involves shameless self-promotion
You have spent ages writing your stories.
You agonised over the title.
You searched for and found a great photo.
You selected the appropriate tags.
You read and re-read your words.
You finally hit that green ‘Publish’ button.
What happens next is anyone’s guess.
Did you pitch it right?
Have you published using a Publisher, or have you “gone it alone”?
If it’s a publisher, you may need to wait for them to accept your story, and then you’ll be able to see how well it does (or not)!
If you really want to get the most traction from your stories, you also need to promote them outside of Medium.
Now, I’m am not big into social media. I don’t use Facebook or Instagram but I have posted on LinkedIn. Once! I don’t understand how Pinterest can work for me either!
I am quite into Twitter.
When a story is published, I will also post a link on Twitter. Admittedly, this does have varying degrees of success, but it has definitely increased my Twitter followers, with the occasional comments too.
It’s not ground-breaking, but I do feel good about myself with some self-promotion!
Let’s be honest. If I don’t promote it, I can’t guarantee anyone else will!
What activities do you do to promote your stories?
Let me know in the comments.
