How to draw an eye — Digital Art IbisPaintX

I came up with another tutorial. How to draw an eye but in digital art on IbisPaintX

So, I want to show you how to do an eye. Let’s start! (The app I used is IbisPaintX). Subscribe

Step 1

First, you need to know in which way to put your eyes. For example, in the front, in one place or in which way you want. I wanted to do on one side.

I used this brush called Dip Pen (Soft)

brushes

So, first you do a sketch. You can get an example from google, but I tried to do it without an example. I chose the color black. Remember, this is a sketch. I will remake the sketch.

This is how the sketch looks like for now…

Step 2

Now, add another layer and go back to the sketch layer then low the opacity. Now, remake the sketch you made, to a better one. And try to not make the eye or the pupil too small. The character would look scared. But if you want to make it scared, then it’s fine. Look how I made.

Step 3

Now, after you’ve done the sketch, color it! You can color with the ‘Magic Wand’ or ‘Bucket’. I’ve explained in another article why do I use Bucket and why do I think it is better. Here is why.

‘Why do I think that ‘Bucket’ is better for me? Well, you can just press the part you want it to be colored, and it will color. I know, it might leave some parts uncolored, but it’s still better for me. I can explain the ‘Magic Wand’ one too. You can color with this one too, but accidentally you click another part and it gets annoying when you just can’t select the part you want. But, of course I haven’t forgot that you can go to the ‘Selection Layer’ and just do that part with the brush… But that’s my opinion! You can choose any of those. I’m explaining these because I don’t want you to do all of the coloring with the brush…. It takes a long time.’

Okay, so choose any of those and then color the eye what color you want and the rest of it, white. This is how I made.

eye coloring

Yes, it looks simple, but that’s not the end! Add another layer and then press ‘Clipping’. But only for the eye/pupil! In the layer that you clipped, go to the white big line and choose ‘Multiply’.

Then make a big line on the pupil. But up! Then, make another layer and clip it but choose ‘Add’ on the white big line. Then make a big line but down. I ‘Smudge’ the lines. But not too much. It should look like this.

Oh, yes and then make another layer to put the purple shading. Clip it and make a big purple line. And also, go to the eyelash layer and make another layer then press ‘Clipping’ and choose what color you want for it. It should fit the eye color too… I chosen dark green because the base is green. :)

You can make another layer and make white dots. Like this.

Step 4

This step it’s optional. I will add some blush.

Step 5

I decided to make a face too, so it would look better. I started doing the hair and the chin then I colored it.

I colored the hair too, but brown, added a clip and made a mouth.

I know, the lines over the eye looks ugly. Why did I do that? Because if I covered the eye, you couldn’t see too much and it wouldn’t make too much sense since it’s a eye tutorial.

Step 6

Here, I made the background. I didn’t put too much effort on it. I also did a random background.

This is all! I hope you understood how to do it.
