How to Discover the Craving Beneath the Craving

It starts with finding the cues…

I love to keep abreast of the latest info that will keep me healthy — both physically and mentally, and then share what I learn.

It really brings me joy, as it is such a passion of mine!

And I especially feel joy when I can take someone to a deeper level to reveal something that can make a difference in their life — and it’s all by going within.

I am reading several books, one being Medical Medium’s: Life Changing Foods. What Anthony William is sharing is really resonating with me! And though some of what he shares is different than what I have heard by other holistic experts, I believe in what he writes.

I state this as since I have been following his celery juice protocol, my body has been flowing with ease. Like so many of us, I suffer with the daily aches and pains and especially feel it when I enjoy too much time walking outside.

That is until June when I finally listened to the 3rd sign to follow his advice. It wasn’t my doctor telling me or seeing Anthony on a health summit, it was during the Tony Robbins 7 Day Challenge that I took away the most life-changing info.

I am on a mission to feel ageless, and I am feeling younger as my body now moves with ease. Please check out more info in my article below which includes a video from my YouTube channel at NEWLAND WELLNESS:

What I would like to share in today’s article: Have you ever had a food craving? I believe we all have from time to time, some of us on a daily basis. They really can be strong, can they not? Some of us really struggle with it!

Usually the foods we crave are sugar-related, even if we don’t connect it. For example, pizza is loaded with sugar — were you aware? From the tomato sauce both with natural and added sugar, and the cheese which contains lactose, which is sugar. The crust which is flour-based will turn into sugar. So that ‘savory’ meal is really as sugary as a pastry.

The holistic community speaks to sugar as a strong addiction. And though I agree, we need to get to:

The craving beneath the craving…

I love this quote by Anthony! It makes my eyes light up! When we start to see that certain foods are cues to what has happened in our life, we can learn to heal ourselves.

And I am all about the healing! I’m reading a chapter that talks about detoxing. That said, if you are not on one, what is shared will still apply!

Anthony writes that “When you are detoxing, a very specific craving for a food you know doesn’t serve you comes up, means your cells are releasing old toxins from that very food.

Don’t interrupt the process by eating that food.

He continues, “As the toxins release, it can feel like a bubble bursts in your consciousness, along with any emotions that you were using that food for to stuff down when you used to eat it.”

WOW — THAT is really deep! Take a moment and take it in…

This is really powerful if you are looking to help your body and create better health. Whether you are detoxing, or not, apply this to your everyday life.

This is you taking control over food — instead of food taking control over you!

Too many times, food has control — did you even think of it that way? And once you connect that — you can tap into your inner power. And change.

I have a great example of this. When I was a leader for WW (Weight Watchers), I had the honor and privilege to help people not only lose weight, but to keep it off. To go to that deeper level.

To keep the weight off — you really need to do inner work.

I had a wonderful member who went to that deeper level. She had a LOVE of ice cream and it had a hold on her! Every night, she would eat a big bowl…

…She was struggling with letting the ice cream go. It was too many points (on program) for her to enjoy each night.

She tried lower point options, but that didn’t satisfy. She tried cutting the portion of her favorite brand down but she felt unfulfilled. We would talk about it on a regular basis during our meetings.

She could have made the lower point option work, or the cut in portion of her favorite brand. But it would have been a temporary change while on program. She hoped for a lifetime change beyond the program.

Can you relate? Doing something for a while, almost feeling punished by making a change? You might even feel resentful. It’s a temporary habit, not a lifetime habit. You see only a potential short term value in the change.

This is why many will lose weight and then put it back on.

I was a leader that saw that it wasn’t what you lost, it was what you gained…

I asked this member to dig deeper, to look at why she loved the ice cream as she did. What was it a cue for?

And one day she came in and shared with tears in her eyes, that every night she had that ice cream with her father. He had passed several years before and when she ate the ice cream, it really wasn’t about the ice cream — it was her spending that time with her dad once again…. every night.

THAT was the comfort in that comfort food.

When she realized this, she was able to then have a spoonful right out of the freezer, smile and feel satisfied. And in a short time, she didn’t even need the ice cream, she would just spend time thinking of her dad each evening.

What an awesome example of going within and tapping into inner power! This explains more about what Anthony means. What can you discover — if you go deeper?

As he then shared, “If you can find a way to ride the waves of detox cravings, you will find yourself a renewed person afterward. Otherwise you cut yourself off from healing and enlightenment.

“The emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of your being are infinitely interconnected”….

Boom! Do you feel the power in that statement?!

Again, you don’t have to do a detox to reap the benefits of this, as shared through my member. We are on a journey in life. And if you make it a mindful journey think of what you can learn — how you can help yourself.

How when you tap into your inner power, you find inner peace….

That member found peace, along with a sense of control and ultimately the weight loss she desired.

And speaking of inner peace, please save the date — 9/20 at 2:00 CST. Want to feel more in control, tap into your inner power and bring more peace in these times we are in? My next article will have the details — stay tuned…
