A faceless business is one that doesn’t require you or anybody to be the face of the company. You can hide behind the brand and logo, making gobs of money in the process.

I’m a bit camera shy if I’m being honest so that’s why I was first attracted to the idea of a faceless business.

I’ve been successful creating faceless brands on YouTube, Tik Tok, various blogs and websites.

You feel so much freedom from running a business and being behind the scenes, without the pressure and stress of having to show face.

Here’s how you can create your own faceless business right from your cell phone!

Building a faceless business from scratch — using your phone?

You can definitely go for a computer or tablet but what’s easier than just hopping on your phone and creating a full business. It’s something a lot of people wish for and I’m going to show you how to do it.

The kind of business you’ll run from your phone will be social-media based.

Because social media apps on your phone will be the heart of your business, using your phone is a natural fit.

Choosing a social network

Tik Tok, Linkedin, Instagram, YouTube, what social network should you pick?

This comes down to your skill set.

YouTube is for short-form and long-form videos. Go for this social network if you’re into video-making.

Instagram is about images and videos. Your Instagram feed should be aesthetically pleasing and there are a bunch of ways you can dress up your profile. If you’re a creative and love content creation in the form of image and video, go for IG.

Tik Tok is all short form video and requires a lot of consistency. If you have the time in your schedule to post often and engage with fans, Tik Tok can be your platform.

Each social network offers something a little different.

Pick your favorite one and go from there.

What kind of business will I run?

With social media as the heart of your business, you will be the personal brand. You can…

  • Be a content creator/influencer
  • Sell coaching services
  • Be a consultant
  • Do audits
  • Sell digital products

As a content creator or influencer, you will post content, connect and engage with your audience, making money in the process.

Coaches and consultants can connect with their audience through social without having to show face, sharing the benefits of their service as a solution to their audience’s problem.

Audits and digital products are easy to sell if you have your products in front of the right audience.

How it Works?

A 3-step process…

Step 1: Pick a niche

You can go nicheless but I personally think it’s easier for you to pick a niche:

  • Travel
  • Fitness
  • Parenting
  • Sports
  • Pets

Choose a passion or interest you have.

There are so many interesting accounts on social media. In the past few months I’ve stumbled across social media accounts specializing in niche topics like:

  • Women’s period health
  • Cocktail recipes
  • Date ideas in Houston, TX
  • Startup tips
  • Music mashups
  • Press on nails
  • Reddit stories
  • A journey documenting going from zero to $300K in one year

Don’t be afraid to go a little unusual with your niche. There’s an audience for everything.

Note: While picking a niche, also think about how you plan to make it a business. Meaning, how will you make money from it? Brand deals, advertising, affiliate marketing, etc. More on this in step 3.

Step 2: Create content

Next, it’s time to create content. If you don’t want to be married to your phone everyday for work, do batching.

Batching your content means you’ll create a bunch of content in one sitting to post for a period of time.

For example, take two hours from your Sunday afternoon and create 35 pieces of content for the upcoming week.

This will help you save tons of time and aid in helping you keep your sanity.

Nothing is more stressful than when you know you need to post content but you have not idea what to post.

Step 3: Explore monetization

Ideally, you want to think about monetization in step 1, while you’re picking your niche. Because while there’s an audience for everything, all niches are not created equal in terms of making money.

There are some huge niches with incredible engagement, accounts with millions of followers but they are not making money.

You’re trying to build a business after all, right?

For example, if you start a social media account about stamp collecting, what are some ways you can monetize it?

You could find buyers to purchase part of your collection but, what else? While other opportunities may exist, they may not be lucrative.

So it’s important you think good and long about this.

You’re done!

Of course, don’t forget to set up your business appropriately according to your area:

  • Taxes
  • Business bank accounts
  • Sales permits or licenses based on your area
  • Bookkeeping

This is the unfun part but very necessary.

And, if you’re like me and get overwhelmed by all this sometimes, outsource it to a professional, including software.

That’s how you create a faceless business from your phone.

Have you done this?

If not, what kind of faceless business would you start from your phone?
