How To Be Good At Saying No But Still Be The Office Hero
There comes a time when you have to say no, right?

Do you know how you're the office hero? I bet you do. Otherwise, you would not be reading this.
You're the person who can be counted on to take on extra work or help out with a project that's falling behind schedule.
You're the one who makes sure that every project gets done on time and in style. You're just so good at being helpful.
But some requests may be too much for your skillset.
Too far outside your comfort zone, or require something you are not ready to provide yet.
Maybe there aren't enough hours in a day? Whatever it is, it just doesn't appeal to you. What do you do?

1. Start small:
If you're new to saying no, start by saying no to things that aren't very important to you.
Experiencing what it feels like to say no to someone will help you build your courage to say no more often.
Taking baby steps when you are an adult is seriously underrated.
2. Be nice:
Smiling while saying no is an art form, but it's one worth mastering.
When you say no nicely and respectfully, people will be more likely to respect your wishes and not take them personally.
3. Don't apologize:
Sometimes, you will apologize when you say no because you feel bad about disappointing the person asking them for something.
But apologizing makes you feel worse about yourself instead of helping them feel better about what happened
So don’t do it!
Instead of apologizing, try saying something like "I'm sorry I can't help today" or "I wish I could, but I have something else going on."
Action Plan
I've never been good at saying no, but I've learned how to do it thoughtfully and strategically.
If you practice these tips, you’ll be able to say no without feeling guilty or making others feel bad.
And when you're able to say yes more often, everyone wins! But if it's a NO, the more specific the reason, the better.
Because people like reasons for things. So give them one, and you will still be the office hero.
