How to Achieve Goals in 3 Easy Steps

Then you eat your piece of pizza

We all want to achieve our goals and finally enjoy success. But in the times that we are living in, many people want to reach the goal, making the minimum effort.

Others decide to take the short or easier route, in order not to finally obtain the desired result.

This reminds me of an occasion, many years ago, when we were about to start at work, the boss told us: “Today there is a lot of work to do, and I will have to work together with you to finish on time. Each one has specific tasks, Whoever finishes their homework can go to the lunchroom and then eat your piece of pizza.”

At that moment my mind took me directly to the lunchroom. And I visualize myself, eating my piece of pizza. And not just one piece of pizza, but three or four pieces of pizza.

What was my next thought, establish a plan in my mind, to get my tasks done as soon as possible.

1. Establish your plan step by step

First of all, you must establish what works best for you to do and the order that you understand will help you complete the goal.

For example, if your goal is to be a successful writer on Medium. You first have to study and participate in the platform as much as you can. Read and analyze how some writers have achieved good results. If I were to show you some steps I can mention them in the following way:

(I’m going to skip the steps of becoming a Medium member, I’ll take it as done for you.)

1. Locate where in your home you are going to do your work.

2. Organize the sources of information that you will use to create your content.

3. Think about topics of interest or that you have experience.

4. Practice writing several and see what tools you need and which ones suit the way you work.

5. Before posting any, calmly read the Medium’s posting guidelines.

6. Post the first one and see what your result looks like.

7. After having several, you can try to apply as a writer in a publication and there is more possibility of obtaining more readings of your stories and as a result, generate more income.

Something like this is a step by step plan.

Taking as an example being a writer on Medium.

Then what comes?

2. Think big and get motivated

You must now think big, visualize yourself as I did, eating those pieces of pizza, without fear of eating more than one.

You cannot allow fear to paralyze you.

You have to think big and allow motivation to flow through your veins.

If the thought doesn’t make you uncomfortable, then you’re not thinking big.

Think Positive and say within yourself: “If this were the last goal I would achieve in my life, what I want is to be remembered as one of the best. Am I going to make it bigger?”

Think bigger.

You have to push your thinking muscles further.

They work like any other muscle. If they get used to performing at a comfortable medium level, they tend to stay there.

The more you push them, the broader thinking becomes your natural state. But you have to keep pushing them if you don’t want to get stuck and lose momentum and inspiration. The powerful thing is to keep pushing in perpetuity and see for yourself that there are no limits.

So far you have a plan and you are thinking about how you are going to achieve it and how you are going to enjoy the award.

And now you have what is vitally important.

3. Act immediately

The thought must be followed by immediate action. You will need to date that plan. You have to start working step by step on that scheduled day.

Otherwise, the possibility of it rotting inside your mind increases dramatically.

One of the worst things that can happen to you is, thinking of something great, seeing yourself and feeling in that beautiful situation, and then taking no action and letting it wait on your “Someday” list forever.

There is no someday, there is now or never.

Years ago, Sylvester Stallone struggled to succeed as an actor in almost any category — to no avail.

Time passed and he couldn’t get a job and things got so bad that he ended up living on the streets for 3 days.

Unable to pay rent or buy food, his lowest point came when he sold his dog for $ 25 as he had no money to keep feeding him. He says he came back crying after doing that.

Two weeks later he saw a boxing match between Mohamed Ali and Chuck Wepner that gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie: «Rocky».

Wrote the script in 3 days!

He tried to sell it and received an offer of $125,000 for it. But he had one condition: He wanted to star in the movie. He wanted to be the main actor, Rocky himself! However, the producer said NO! They wanted a “real” actor.

He walked away with his script, and a few weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script. Again he refused. They even offered him $350,000. Even so, he said no.

He wanted to be in that movie, there was no other way to do it.

That’s why after a while, the studio gave in and gave him $35,000 for the script and they let him star in the movie. This movie was a huge success and the beginning of a great career for Stallone.

You are always taking steps in one direction or another. If you do not direct your steps towards what you really want now, one day you will realize that you are further away than you were before.

You have to start working to make your dream come true.

Remember that you have to enjoy the process, even if you have not reached the goal. While that happens you are getting closer every day.

“When you’re done … then eat your piece of pizza.”
