How Old Is Your Dream?

I was listening to a male and a female talking.

The male said, “William Shatner is too old to go to space, and the money he is using to pay for his space trip he should donate it to the poor people in his country.”

“Why?” the female asks. “He worked hard for his money. He has a right to spend it on anything he pleases.”

According to: https://www.thedailybeast.com/william-shatner-90-set-to-fly-into-space-with-jeff-bezos-blue-origin ‘it’s unclear how much the Star Trek star had to pay to join the intergalactic crew (the last flight’s final seat went for over $20 million at auction).’

“But our world is in chaos. Economies are collapsing. People are suffering all over the globe because of COVID 19,” the male complains.

“William Shatner isn’t responsible for the condition our world is in!”

“I know that. But he has more resources than millions of us. Why not use it in a better way.”

“Really!” she said in annoyance. “You don’t know if he has donated money to various organizations that help the poor. Many millionaires do that privately.”

“Well, if I had his money, I would want the world to know who I give it to.”

“Yeah,” she said, throwing him sideways glances. “The five hundred dollars that you gave to Princess for sex, she told everyone about it.”

He grits his teeth as his face becomes red with anger and embarrassment, mumbling and grumbling under his breath.

Waiting for an answer that didn’t come, she continued, “You did what you wanted with your money and enjoyed yourself while fulfilling a dream at a cost to your children because you are always crying poverty. Don’t you think William Shatner deserved the same? Especially since he can afford it and his actions aren’t costing his family a dime!”

He wrestled with silence, and she continued.

“Plus, he played Captain Kirk on Star Trek, the biggest and best space film of all time. He was the USS Starship Enterprise’s commander for three years. He directed one of the seven movies he played Captain James T. Kirk in. No matter how old he is, he has a right to his dreams. And it also makes sense. He has played it. Why not live it for a moment and make history too. He is the oldest person to go to space.”

His silence says a lot.

William Shatner has a right to his choices without criticism or judgment from anyone rich or poor. Many millionaires give to the various charity organizations of their choice anonymously. They have a right to enjoy the fruits of their labor at any age. Being wealthy opens the door to the fulfilment of many dreams and fantasies, no matter the age. Life is for living. Live yours and allow others to do the same. Dreams have no age limit!
