How My Articles Got Curated By Medium Curators

Even your article can be curated

I started writing on the medium from 23 July 2020. It’s been a month and for beginners, curators take almost two weeks to review the articles. If you don’t know about curation then read the guidelines here.

I have written so far 27 articles on medium. And even I heard about curation jail but I never bother about that. As people said if your first 3 or 10 (I don’t know the exact count) articles are not curated you will be in a curation jail.

From that point, I told myself that the important thing is to write as many articles as I can and I don’t have to worry about curation. Because I knew if I practice more eventually everything will fall into place. As improvement will come only when I will work on it.

After two weeks I looked at the stats of my first article and it said Not distributed in topics. The same happened with the rest of the 17 articles. But still, I didn’t lose hope. Because I love writing and I was creating my portfolio. So I told myself Great things take time. And continued my writing the same way I was writing before. No full stop just kept taking one step at a time.

Then something happened. I wrote one article almost 12 days before and submitted it to Invisible Illness publication and in their article, they said if they didn’t contact back in 7 days. It may be because of the high volume of submissions from a different writer. So seven days happened nothing came back.

So, then I submitted the same article to The post-grad Survival Guide publication. Again, they rejected it. Then my only survival and the publication who always helped me so far is ILLUMINATION.

I submitted it there and my title was not up to the point. So, I got a note from the editor P.G. Barnett that the article is very good but the title doesn’t resonate it. So, I changed the title and looked at my content and submitted it back. P.G. Barnett edited some of my work and then published it in ILLUMINATION.

After one hour I received an email from curators that my article is been curated in one of the topics — Mental Health. I was so damn happy. For me, it was an achievement.

I know some of the people's articles are been curated very early but I want to improve in my journey and that’s what matters for me. I got this email.

I want to thanks P.G. Barnett for helping me with this article and Dr Mehmet Yildiz for accepting my article into the publication. ILLUMINATION is my base and who has supported me from the very start. So, thank you so much.

Another article was curated the next day. I send this article to Age of Awareness Publication almost 3–4 days back. And they published my article on 25 August.

As I submitted I got another email from medium curators within an hour saying that they have curated my article in — Spirituality and Self topics. I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy.

I want to thanks Stephen Muskett, M.S.Ed for accepting my article into publication.

So, basically I wrote this for all the beginners just like me. I want to let them know that just be positive and work on your skill. I am not an expert. It’s just that 2 of my articles got curated until now and still 8 are in a row for the reviews by curators.

I want to tell you all these few points which I am practising:

  1. Write daily: Yes, you need to write daily. Because practice makes us perfect. All the top writers say to write daily. So, there is a reason behind it. The reason is that anything can be improved if we practice on a regular basis. So, I want you all to write daily. No matter how small your article is. Start with 300–400 words a day. So keep writing.
  2. Believe in yourself: You need to believe that best will happen for you. As there is no secret ingredient for success you just have to believe in it. So, be positive and keep working and one day you will be at the top of the mountain. Just never stop.
  3. Don’t let rejection stop you: I have been rejected by many publications several times. I took all those rejection emails and notes as my encouragement. So, take all those rejections as your steps of growth. Don’t be in a hurry that everything will be the best in your first month. Keep working no matter at which month you are.
  4. Don’t horde for money at the start: You just keep doing your work. All hard works pay off for everyone. Nothing goes in vain. You will get back whatever you gave don’t worry about that. You just keep doing your work. Take one step at a time because that’s what matters.

So, keep your learning process growing each day. Work on your journey and take guidance from all other writers but don’t copy others. Let miracles happen in your life.

Even your post will be curated don’t worry just keep going.

And I know many people’s articles are curated on a daily basis. It’s not a big thing at all but for me right now this miracle and hard work is making me happy. So, I want to cherish it and I want to keep my learning process going on at my own pace.

A few of my articles.

Thank you.
