How I Plan to Tackle These 2 Goals on Medium

$1k month & a boosted story

I am truly enjoying the Medium experience.

I enjoy the people, the earnings, the publications, the articles, and the challenges I’ve set for myself.

But there are 2 things I haven’t accomplished yet and want to. I’m going for these goals for a few reasons:

It’s a challenge to come up with goals and figure out how to achieve them.
I like experimenting and learning how to do new stuff.
I like to show other people what I’m doing as inspiration for them to try it too.

Mostly, I just think it’ll be fun!

1. Make $1000 in earnings in a month.

On July 21, 2023, I wrote this on Twitter:

In July 2023, I made exactly $1.12.

Making $1,000 on Medium in a month was a pipe dream. I didn’t actually believe it.

(But I like putting ideas out into the Universe in writing because things seem to happen when you do that…)

I’m still fairly far off, but it seems much more possible. In December and January, I made it into the $500s.

I’m very grateful for those earnings, but unsatisfied. Time to get to that $1k goal!

2. Get a story boosted.

I know getting a story boosted isn’t a necessity. From what I’ve read, your story has a nice spike (with a spike in earnings, too) and then it kind of drops down like most stories do.

However, it’s still an accomplishment to have your story chosen by real people (versus the algorithm).

I write a lot of stories about Medium, and from what I understand, these stories will not get boosted.

No problem. I have other topics I enjoy.

I doubt writing about my favorite band Chevelle will get me anywhere, but maybe a story on Law of Attraction or manifesting?

I’ll need to do a little research on this.

I had a third goal.

This is how much I haven’t been paying attention to everything going on with Medium.

I had a third goal I wanted to go for:

get a Top Writer badge

This was something I was interested in when I first joined Medium in 2023. Then I forgot all about it. Well, they took this away quite a while ago.

D’oh!

So for now, I’ll concentrate on the two goals I have, and we’ll see if any new ones pop up along the way.
