How I Made My First $100 on Gumroad
I have two Gumroad accounts and this is what I have learned
I made my first $100 within a few days after my first launch!
Everyone nowadays is looking for some simple tutorial on — how to make money on Gumroad or Payhip.
Choose any platform of your choice but the steps will be the same.
In short, you need to drive your own traffic!

Whether you are absolutely new or trying to make your first $100 or $1000 on Gumroad then this article will definitely help you out!
What is Gumroad?
You may have read a lot of creators talking about Gumroad. You will hear about Payhip and Patreon from time to time as well.
Creators change so will their preferences.
Gumroad is just a platform that handles your digital file and customer payment. Think of it like an e-commerce store. The only good part is that you don’t have to pay anything upfront!
But they will take 10% of your sales. Much better than paying upfront for an e-commerce website!
So simply you create the product and upload it to your Gumroad store. Make sure you have a small audience where you can promote your work.
Note — Choose Gumroad because they have the Gumroad Discover feature. You’ll get sales from their audience as well! Free traffic!
How did I make my first $100 on Gumroad?
It’s been a year now since I started selling on Gumroad. I started with Amazon KDP. If you are interested then this will be helpful for you.
I know no one likes complex theory. I am with you on this. So I will try my best to give you here some simple and easy steps.
- Pick a niche — Every creator is known for their niche. Make a list of your favorite Medium writers, Instagram influencers, or YouTubers. I am pretty sure you will be able to define their niche in a few words. That’s what you need. A niche that you like and want to explore further.
- Pick a platform — I chose Medium. I also promote (somewhat) on other platforms as well. I will advise you to pick any one platform. My fellow creators promote their Gumroad product on Twitter and are making four figures a month. I know one creator who promotes their digital art on Instagram and makes a good part-time income from it. So choose a platform.
- Create useful content — Copy-pasting or AI-generated content is not going to help. Your content will act as a live portfolio. People buy multiple products from the same creator if you are honest with your work. Trust me on this.
- Engage — Building an audience is a must. You have to build a relationship with your audience before promoting the product. So engage, engage, and engage.
- Promote — No one is going to promote your work. You have to do it yourself. Promote it as often as possible. 80% content, 20% promotion.
Conclusion
I know you must have seen these steps multiple times, but there is no other way. I try my best to keep my business as simple as possible. I currently have two Gumroad accounts. I also started a third one to test out new niches. Whatever the niche is, the platform may change, but the procedure is almost the same.
Making money selling digital products may sound a little difficult or too much work. But believe me, if you work a little every single day, you’ll reach your goals soon.
Remember to stick to the schedule for 90 days.
