How I Made $7305.69 Selling Books Online In December 2023
2023 has been a breakout year for my Amazon KDP business, seeing the results in the latter half of the year of new strategies I decided to work on at the start.
December was my biggest month of the year and I love sharing these detailed breakdowns to provide you with guidance and strategies to implement in your KDP business.
If you haven’t seen my November income report, you can read it below:
December Breakdown

My sales were consistent for the first 3 weeks due to the Christmas demand but they drastically dropped off after the 22nd.
I’ve tried to build an evergreen portfolio of books that can sell all year round rather than creating seasonal-specific books.
I prefer having a consistent income each month that I can predict over hoping for a huge spike in sales during big events, this allows me to build a sustainable business.
Whilst I have created 1031 books only 259 of these are live on Amazon. I unpublished many of these books due to their low quality as I followed bad advice when I started this business.
My biggest day of the month was December 20th were I made just over $500!

In contrast, my smallest day of the month was December 25th were I made $0 as Amazon doesn’t ship any books out on Christmas Day.
I love to look back and compare how far my business has come and just 1 year ago in December, I made $3113.60.

And my highest day was December 14th making $210.14.

I always try to zoom out and focus on year-on-year growth, in reality it’s easy to get discouraged where you are now but a year can change everything.
There will always be others earning more or less but focus on your growth and only compare your results with you. Everyone’s path to success is different.
I made several big decisions early in the year which resulted in significant growth in my Amazon KDP business including hiring freelancers, using AI tools and creating fewer books.
I explain the benefits of creating fewer books below.
Top Selling Books

My best-selling books include:
3 activity books, a log book, a quiz book and 2 coloring books.
You can create so many different types of books on Amazon, so don’t be limited to these.
Marketing
The best method I’ve used to promote my books has been using Amazon Ads. I only run ads in 3 markets, the UK, US and Canada but I will be adding Australia later this year.

I spent my largest amount ever on ads this month with the most being in the UK market which resulted in 668 orders.
Whilst my second largest spend was in the US market spending over $440, this gave me 149 orders.
I spent the least amount in Canada although I still had 5 sales and the lowest ACOS of the marketplaces.
Final Breakdown

My gross income for December was $7305.69, but any business always has expenses.
The first is Amazon ads which came to $1814.85, plus 20% VAT to the UK market as I’m based in the UK.
Second, is subscription services including GPT4, Midjourney, Canva, KDP Champ and few more but these usually amount to $110 each month.
Final Thoughts
I don’t write these articles to brag or boast but to show the true potential of making money online.
I’m grateful for how far this business has grown since I started. I wholeheartedly believe anyone can change their life by creating or selling online.
Anything worth doing takes time so don’t expect fast results. Just pick something you love doing and get 1% better each day, the results will eventually come.
